One of my former Naruto fan OCs who got a new coat of paint. I had created him back when my ace 13 year old self was convinced I could write a compelling romance. The first iteration of that was... interesting, to say the least.

Hotaru maintains a lot of his visual appearance from that time, with a lot of refinements personality wise and backstory wise. Now, he's a sweetheart of a social worker, helping 'monsters' like werewolves and vampires get acclimated back into society after their turning! He is an electrokinetic in addition to an empath; he 'sees' people emotions and can feel them as if they were his own.

Hotaru is a wiry looking guy with spiky copper hair. His eyes are monolidded heterochromatic; yellow, with a ring of orange around the pupil. He tends to wear casual clothes; a t-shirt with a long sleeved shirt underneath, sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans, sneakers, the like. He especially loves "meme" ish t-shirts. If he thinks it's funny, he'll probably wear it. His hair is very staticy, due to his ability of electrokinesis- if you run your hands through it fast enough, you may see sparks!

Hotaru is very perceptive to people's emotions- especially those that he is closer to. He does so with scary accuracy, and as such can typically hang around most kinds of people. This doesn't stop him from poking fun at people from time to time. His own emotions, on the other hand, are difficult for others to decipher. He's known to be easily amused, especially when aggravating someone else, and on occasion will show annoyance for something. He'll throw in false emotions with surprising conviction, but to catch him off guard is rare, as he typically appears relaxed and confident. He always has a guard around his emotions, perhaps because he's so used to seeing everyone else's he feels the need to hide his own.

Hotaru grew up with a pretty normal life. He is the elder brother to his sister, Harouxi (Xi), and they were born to their mother and father. Their mother is a fun-loving accountant, who loves nothing more than to spend time with her family (and prank their poor father), and their father was an amusement park manager, who was rather strict.

Growing up, Xi and Hotaru were thick as thieves. They got into mischief together, stayed over at their grandparents' houses (who adored the two troublemakers), and did all the typical things kids did.

Hotaru went to college to pursue his desire to help people, and ended up in an organization known as Grigori; a sort of monster social services. His empathy proved invaluable for his job, and he was paired with one Shiba Lyall, who at first wanted nothing to do with him. Over time, the two proved to be an excellent team, and now get called out on the regular for the more unpredictable, volatile cases, in an attempt to re-integrate them into society.

Over time, he got to meet Shiba's best friend (and ex), Ikazuchi; and Hotaru found his partner in crime. They seem cagey on the details, but eventually the three became an item, and are still going strong.
