Moving into The City after certain circumstances, Ely is constantly mingling with ghosts, aliens, and anything they deem interesting, giving those who know them no end of stories to tell. It's not like they want to worry or bother people, but they're too much of a weirdness magnet for their own good.
Ely themself is a puzzle: Frank, but can lie their way out of a situation. Clever, yet shortsighted in their goals. Bold, yet sneaky and scheming. Teasing, but quiet and introspective... No one quite knows what’s going on in their mind, always looking to the stars. They'll probably come back with a new thought, story, or song to show you!
Really, though: They just want to have fun with the lifetime they've got! As long as you're nice or interesting, they'll stick around. This sentiment is really being challenged by the two boys they're set on getting to know, though...

- Gwuh... They're SUPPOSED to have this sort of loose, curly fro, but I never draw it that way 🤔 Their hair is bleached and dark at the roots. Interpret it however you want, just keep it curly.
- Hair is purposefully drawn thinner and less fluffy in Fallen Star (please listen to ur parents and wear a silk bonnet ely 😭)

A paradox, even to those who know them. Outwardly, Ely seems like the quiet, shy type. They prefer thinking and observing when they aren't talking, oft internally waxing poetic. Though the moment they start talking, their playful attitude and eccentric interests tend to betray their first impressions. They want to listen to and tease interesting people, and they are effectively straight-forward with offering advice or telling their friends when they're being jerks.
All of their contradictions and teasing are mostly to hide Ely's deeper feelings, both from others and themself. They aren't manipulative or two-faced, they're just uncomfortable with being vulnerable. They prefer talking about other people rather than themself in a conversation as a result, and they absolutely get flustered when someone genuinely turns their attention towards them.
Ely does things from self-interest, preferring to have fun rather than "doing what's right"- Their alignment and system of morals will change depending on what's most interesting/important to them at the time, though they're typically nice.

Born in the wooded suburbs of Willow Hollow to Stellan and Ana Crowe, Ely lived a relatively quiet early childhood. They started developing their vitiligo fairly early in life, and joined with their already weird interests, they weren't very popular. With humans, anyway- Which didn't really matter, especially when the local crows and shadows in the wood were better comapny!
Ely was especially shy and quiet back then, not quite used to human interaction, with not much trace of the playful and outgoing side of them they'd develop later on. Happy relationship with parents, who were the only humans they were really comfortable hanging out around.
Author note, I haven't actually published FS yet, so I can't link to anything... I'll summarize what happens and how it impacts Shooting Star, though.
The strangest event they ever saw back in their time in Willow Hollow was when the star fell from the sky. More accurately, they witnessed an irken spaceship crash land in the woods near their house, and saved the alien inside. This is where the events of Fallen Star take place:

After Tib and Kua'i Tiao leave, Ely returns home to learn the confirmation of their parent's deaths. They try not to let this ruin them as they're moved under their aunt's care, but even with suppression, they're bitter about the abrupt and cruel change in their life. This is when they meet Dib, and later ZIM! With another interesting world of aliens and hunting for ghosts presented to them, it served as ample distraction from their circumstances. These are the events of Shooting Star, which take place in the present :)
Something important I want to at least write down here is that here is that this is when Ely finds out about the details of their parent's witch life and their aunt's status as a nymph. It's a CRAZY family tree. This is how Ely gets involved with the sodamancers in the city :0c In Shooting Star, Poopwatch is lying about their origin story (wizards didn't create Poopcola,) and they're just a bunch of urban witches who took a corporate product they liked and imbued magic into it :) so yeah ely can kinda do magic but its not a big part of their identity (just a fun little thing i like exploring sometimes)
- Out of all their crow friends, they're closest to an albino crow they've dubbed Fiore :]
- Smells mostly like lavenders. It's the shampoo, made from the herbs in their aunt's garden.
- They're very fond of giving and calling people by nicknames! (Something they picked up from Kua'i Tiao ;D)
- Yes, they listen to Lemon Demon: Their favorite LD song is The Ocean :D
- They have selective mutism. They mask more now but it still pops up from time to time.
- Ely has a pinterest board that can be seen here!
They see Tib as a sort of brother figure, him being their first real friend. They drag him along to look for mysteries, which he pretends to be annoyed by.
These two have a complex history with one-sided flirting, a betrayal, and an apology- But they couldn't be any closer now! Playfully close friends.
Ely would rather not hate the guy, but he DID hunt down and brainwash their friends, family, and town, so... It's hard to like him.
Ely's parents. Was close to them, and only really knew the whole witch thing after they died.

Ksehi hates Tib, and it says it hates Ely- But it's actions towards them don't completely support that. Ely wants to be closer.
Ely would rather Ai stop trying to poke a needle into them. Otherwise, they find xer research and attitude morbidly interesting.
Ely's aunt and current caretaker. She loves her nibling to bits and gives them a lot of freedom, which they appreciate.

Best friends who hunt for ghosts!! Ely's first human friend, and Dib's first friend period. He gets easily flustered around them, though...
"Human servant" to ZIM only by title, they're more like an amused right hand watching their villain friend fail, only helping out when they feel like it.
