Connor ✦

Connor grew up in a big city, but when he was 13 his parents got a divorce with joint custody of Connor, with him having to alternate homes each week while attending school in the city. His father stayed in the city for work while his mother moved back to her smaller rural hometown about half an hour away, where she decided to start fresh and work in her family's floral shop. Connor remembered how much his mother enjoyed tending to the flower pots on their fire escape and the rooftop garden she started back at the city home, and how much fun he had helping her when he was younger. Since nobody else would really tend to them, Connor took it upon himself to do so. His mother was more than enthusiastic when she learned of this after Connor asked her how to care for the various flowers and foliage. 

When Connor reached high school he decided he'd pursue a career as a florist, and began focusing more in his math and science classes, and took a botany class as an elective his freshman year.

At the start of Connor's freshman year, he noticed there was a guy he had nearly every class with (even French, except Botany) and seemed to be liked by the other students. The other guy noticed Connor in his classes too, and within the first few days approached him to ask for help in a math study group since see he seemed so focused and got good scores on assignments. The boy introduced himself as Lachlan. Connor agreed in order to attempt socializing, and asked when and where, Lachlan said after school at his place and gave Connor his address.

Connor was a bit nervous since Lachlan seemed popular with classmates and had never been in a big social group before. When he arrived the others had no actual interest in studying and just wanted to eat food and hangout. Connor asks about studying but Lachlan offers him a spot next to him in the circle of kids sitting and eating pizza. Connor lost interest due to his serious study time being wasted. and told Lachlan he couldn't offer his studying help if he's not gonna take it serious and was ready to leave. Lachlan quickly stood up, and said whoever didn't wanna study could leave right now. Everyone left, leaving the two alone together.

While studying together, Connor is able to help Lachlan understand the different formula's needed to solve various equations. Near the end Lachlan admits the reason he invited Connor over in the first place was because he wanted to hang out with him, but Lachlan was too shy since he was used to others approaching him first. So his friends helped him come up with the study group excuse since Connor seemed so smart. But he really did need help in math, and thanks Connor for his help before asking if they could continue studying together regularly. Connor was caught off guard and flustered over the confession and request, but agrees that they can do it after school every other week when he's staying in the city with his dad, as long as Lachlan gets serious and does as Connor said.

The next day Lachlan went over to Connor's home at his dad's to study. During their break, Connor goes to tend the flowers on the fire escape and on the rooftop garden. Lachlan follows, asking Connor about his interest in flowers since he heard he took Botany class, and learns of his past and goals to become a florist. Connor tells the other he understood if he thought it was an unusual dream for a guy, but Lachlan insisted he thought it was cool Connor wanted to pursue his own personal passions. That's when he asks Lachlan about his own passions. Lachlan shares his interest in producing music and DJing, and begins playing a song he made from his phone. Connor compliments it, and asks him to play more while they study.

The next week Connor invites Lachlan over to his home with his mom, and they visit the family floral shop. There he teaches Lachlan a bit about flowers as they help out a bit in the shop. Connor's mother is filled with joy to see her son speak so passionately about something to someone other than herself, and pulls her son's friend aside to thank him. She also asks Lachlan to please watch over her son from the city.

At the end of the first school month in August, Lachlan and Connor both ace a math quiz. Lachlan invites Connor over to an arcade to celebrate. When Connor agrees to meet up Lachlan says, "Great, it's a date!". At the arcade, they have a blast playing games together, winning tickets, and eating pizza. After they finish playing games and turning in their tickets, Connor decides to surprise Lachlan by getting him the bandanna he was eyeing at the prize booth and wrap it around some sour candies Connor got with his leftover tickets. When the two are sitting together eating pizza, Connor pulls out the bandanna and Lachlan also reveals he got Connor the hat he was eyeing at the prize booth and filled it with sweet candies. The two thank each other as they swap gifts, and Lachlan reveals he has one more: he pulls out his phone and hands Connor an earphone. Connor closes his eyes, as a soft melody plays with some techno to it. Connor asks what the song was, he liked it so much he wanted to download it later. Lachlan grins as he tells Connor he made it himself, for Connor. He wanted to make a song that made him think of Connor, soft, beautiful, and full of life. But also wanted to add some techno and beats to it, to see if elements that're like Lachlan would mix well with Conner's. When he was satisfied with the results, that's when Lachlan decided he knew he'd be able to ask Connor an important question, "Will you go out with me? If we fit together in a song, maybe we can in each other's lives?" Connor's face became more red than any rose as he was at a loss of words. When Lachlan's expression showed concern, Connor took a deep breath and said "Yes!" with an exhale, but warned that he'd never been in a relationship before, so this was all new to him. But Lachlan grabs Connor's hand and comforts him by saying his last relationship was 5th grade, making the other flush more.

Lachlan's parents invited Connor over to meet him, and were glad that their son not only found someone to help keep him on track in school, but also feed his passions. The couple began spending more time together as they grew closer, both families supporting their relationship throughout high school. Connor and Lachlan would wear couple costumes for Halloween, have three places to visit for Thanksgiving and Christmas, Valentine's Day gifts ready, and vacations already planned out. Each year on their anniversary, Lachlan would make a new song for Connor, and Connor would make an original flower arrangement for Lachlan. The couple planned their lives after high school together: Lachlan encouraged Connor to save up and eventually start his own floral shop and/or floral arrangement business, and Connor pushed Lachlan to try and get his music out there while he DJ's.

After graduating high school, Connor moved in with Lachlan at his parent's place to work his first job at a boba tea place in the city. When Connor told his mom of his plans to save up to start his own floral business, she was saddened at first that he wouldn't be taking over her family's shop, but nonetheless proud that her son had his own passion he wanted to follow. Lachlan got a part time job at the arcade he shared his first date with Connor at, while doing gigs as a DJ on the side.

Connor and Lachlan have been together for about 5 year nows, with their young love still growing.
