Arietta grew to be a strange balance of her mother and father's parenting. She was calm and collected like her mother but wildly driven and influenced by money like her father - making her appear to the outer world as a serious and mysterious woman who took all business opportunities without hesitation. She is sensible and work-oriented but also extremely close-minded. She refused to try certain foods and preferred more sophisticated meals. But she later became more open to trying and experiencing new things with the help of her girlfriend, Halfisa. Ari still is quite stubborn when it comes to choosing a restaurant though.

As a young girl, Arietta had a fairly peaceful household. Her mother was a kind and lax with her, allowing her room to grow and develop on her own. With her own fascination of the occult and fortune telling, she was always telling Ari stories of magic and fairies. Now, with that sort of nurturing she should have turned out to become an equally kind and forgiving person in the future - but her father was wildly different from her mother. Ari was raised to believe "Gold is God" by her workaholic father, teaching her how to make money for herself and ensure her rise in the social ladder. He even convinced Arietta that most magic was merely conjured up by con-men to swindle others and that it wasn't really a bad way to earn money. Despite constant worrying from her mother, Arietta insisted that her father made sense which eventually led to her pacifist mother giving up and just allowing her to do as she pleased. Arietta started up her fortune telling (scam) business due to her father teaching her in extreme detail how magic and fortune telling were the easiest methods to make money as it took advantage of people's natural curiosity. Seeing this as a great way to make fast and easy money, Ari went ahead and got herself the tools of the trade, setting up shop on the very day. The amount of customers was quite normal but Ari achieved a new method of getting money by giving her naive customers vague prophecies before her actual dayjob were to pay her, meaning extra money for her. Ari refers to her fortune telling business as a "hobby" of sorts if asked about it.
