best friend to beverly, she went to work as a park ranger while Beverly was gone for college. the two would write letters when possible, and Beverly would spend her time inbetween semesters at whichever firetower Claire would be assigned to that season. fae is caring, and loves a good joke, but would never rag on someone too far. they like learning about the wildlife in the forest they work for, but she spends alot of faer days journaling or playing games on the tower's computer. when Beverly drops out, the two don't spend as much time together as depression digs into Bev, but things change when Claire starts seeing 'moving trees' while on her shifts. shes the first person to find Beverly after being turned by the crypid in the woods, and fae helps moon transition (leaves changing, antlers, etc) Claire is the one who helps kee Bev hidden from unwanted attention like Myra and Cupcake, and the two get closer as time goes on. she often struggles with issue of being too independant, and while that meant getting away from her shitty homelife faster, it also meant that she would prioritize herself first before anyone/anything. although she's not inherently selfish, it sometimes slips through whenever important things dont go exactky as she planned. she struggles with the unknown and beverlys transformation pushes her to manage those fears while helping out her closest friend.
