Silene

A changeling inserted into human society as a child and raised by a noble family. Became a renown courtier and later a spy due to his minor shapeshifting capabilities, his life became more than a little complicated when he was forced to become a double agent. Was discovered by his queen and lost his eye and most of his shapeshifting abilities in the ensuing punishment, however he managed to escape before he actually died from the torture. Lived as a vagabond from then on, occasionally taking on adventurer jobs to get by. Not particularly good at it, but still able to do a bit of misdirection with the remnants of his changeling powers. 

Suffers from pretty bad dysphoria, what with self-identifying as a human and with his old appearance, not . . . this one. Can't bear to wear human-like clothing styles anymore, finding that they just remind him of what he used to be. Bares his skin and his race, preferring outright rejection to pretenses. 

Due to the loss of his shapeshifting abilities, he finds it difficult to fit in anywhere. As a beautiful courtier he was once surrounded by people, but now finds himself an outcast even among the dregs of society. 

Used to have friends. Used to have family. But his homeland was destroyed shortly after his escape and now he doesn't even have their grave. 

Slightly extremely lonely. Yearns for a place to belong, but generally expects people to hate him as much as he hates himself.

Clings to his courtly sense of morals and propriety as the last remnants of the man he once was. A self-tormented martyr without a cause.
