Before his job at the palace, life wasn’t so easy for Charlie. He lived in the poorer side of the village with not so much as a nickle to his name. The one thing he did have though, was a love for the earth. The young Kalon respected nature and what it meant to him. Nights spent among the outer forests of the village alone, listening to the wildlife and feeling the light breeze upon his fur. Days lounging under trees as the sun rose delicately above the sleepy towns and reflected bright rays onto the majestic stone palace in the distance. It was the time spent out in pursuit of something greater that brought Charlie to his love of everything to do with gardening. A few seeds found by chance would be the starting point. The Kalon looked after the seeds tenderly, watching as they grew into beautiful roses before his eyes. He felt the magic that these plants possessed. The magic that flowed through everything they touched, flowing back to the core of it all. He built up his own garden within a small portion of the woods. Charlie considered this to be his safe-haven. A place he could escape to when money was tight and when his feelings weren’t working as they should. He found peace among the plants he cared for. It was the word of a local seamstress Winifield De Luca to the handmaiden of the Queen, Mona that sent Charlie on his way to a live a life he thought he’d never live. He was visited by the Queen herself and offered a job as the gardener for the palace. She told him that Wini (who was a trusted friend of hers) had been watching him for quite a while and had admired his handiwork with the plants he cared for. Charlie accepted the job and to this day is doing the things he loves most.
