Mystery was a very happy kid, he really loved running around, coloring, singing. He was loved by his mother and father, and he was happy.

He was very loved and that's why his parents disappeared when he was 9. He couldn't really understand it, just remembers a strange man and a lot of water. After that, Mystery began living with his uncle and his friend, traveling across the country. Moving place to place. Never getting an answer as to where his parents went.

Taking a page out of her uncle's book, Mystery took up hunting relatively young, deciding to stay up and read on fourms instead of doing homework. He read up all he could and declared to himself that he'd save up for his first weapon.

His highschool years was interesting, it was as if he was seeing the world through new eyes. Noticing how some people were different, had a certian flair to them that seemed familiar. Mystery would start getting a little too nosy and accidentally stumble upon an Ill nest in the basement of a dinner. After getting hurt severely, Kuns and Cyrus would rush in and take care of the nest together.

Cyrus would finally sit down and explain everything, affinities, her father's research on them, Ills and Cyrus' own hunting gig with Kuns. The two would scold her for doing something reckless. Mystery wasn't listening to that part though. Mystery had just learned about magic and that her dad knew all about it.

Mystery moved into Glass Heart, Minnesota, not too long ago after reading on a fourm that the area was starting to get a little too hard to hunt in. After reading a lot on the town, Mystery knew he needed to go there. The rich history of magic intriguied him.

It took him a minute to settle in, the townies either being a little too friendly or a little too weird for his taste but he eventually did. Managing to land a job and even a house and a roomate, Gareth. He considers it his home, the place he's always wanted to be.

Now he's running around, trying to show everyone that magic is real.

Not everyone likes Mystery running around like he does, suddenly a Soulless named 99 appears.

Their first meeting doesn't go so well. After a horrible misunderstanding, the two engage in a fight that Mystery is too outclassed for. However 99 is easily caught off guard with how easily he seems to telegraph some of their moves. Their fight ends abruptly as Mystery is taken by surprise by an Ill who latched onto Mystery and knocked him out cold. 99 jumps into his dreams to pull him from it's grasp, severing the connection. Saving him. This confused him greatly. 99 wasn't quite sure why she did it. But she did.

From then on, every time Mystery does something, 99 is there to scold him personally. It eventually reaches a point where 99 just shows up and follows Mystery around, hoping that knowing that they’re watching will be enough to stop him. But it never is! Sometimes 99 even helps Mystery, starts bantering with him, calling out to make sure he doesn’t get hit, they seem like they’re becoming friends. 99 starts getting recognized as “the cool cosplayer who seems to wander around the town”. He likes this.

It's like she gets him.

One day, 99 confides in Mystery. She explains that this isn’t the first time her squad was here in Glass Heart, the last time they were sent here to kill someone. Mystery learns more about Soullesses than many have ever learned, their life cycle, their boss, their job in the universe.

To be tasked by the Guardian of Balance to complete a job and usually to help bring balance to the universe. Through murder.

Such request was given for a César Tearstrom. But now everything is going downhill, memebers are missing, they aren't helping with the recent Ill infestation and are simply just hovering around a cave.

Mystery was previously told that there's a major vein of Malachite in the cave, a gemstone known for altering and heightening magic. However now he's being told there is a creature or person in that cave. And 99 is afraid that they might not be a horrible monster that they've been told to be...

Mystery suggests that he goes in and finds this person and if it's too dangerous, he'll get 99's help. And they agree. Mystery, with the help of thr park ranger, breaks in. Mystery has never been inside the caves so this is a very interesting venture for him. He spends a lot of time wandering quietly, inspecting the cave’s beauty. He starts noticing some interesting drawings scrawled on the walls as he goes deeper, all leading him down the same path. And he finds something.

A child. An alien child at thr bottom of the cave.
