Dean has always been introverted and struggled with making friends. Its not like he wants to be alone, but he rarely feels comfortable around people, feelingas if he's constantly judged. He cares alot about what other people think and blames himselfs deeply for every mistake he makes. Dean tends to bury himself in his work to avoid thinking about his troubles, often overworking himself to extreme degrees. Despite all this Dean has a very positive outlook on life, and tries his best to not give up, even when facing difficult situations. When he's truly comfortable, Dean becomes much more extroverted and energetic. He is very passionate about the things he like and he is truly comfortable around someone when he lets himself ramble about whatever he wants around them.
Dean grew up with very strict parents who constantly pushed him to do well academically. They valued maths and science and completely disregarded their sons love and talent for writing. What made everything worse was how badly Dean struggled with these subjects, despite how hard he worked. This lead to a very strained realtionship between him and his parents. They grew abusive only worsening Deans mental health. He isolated himself, only leaving his room to go to school where he was all alone.
After one particiularly bad fight between him and his parents, Dean locked himself inside his room in a complete panic. Not being able to stay in the suffocating room, he escaped out of his bedroom window and hid in a nearby alleyway. He soon got approached by a boy who introduced himself as Elijah. After getting to know him he started to meet with him almost daily, keeping it a secret from his parents. The two grew deeply close and after some time, Dean decided he wanted to run away with Elijah, leaving his abusive household behind and beginning his life with Elijah
