As far as Prince is concerned, his perception is objective reality. In his own eyes, he is a leader, a selfless martyr who will make the difficult decisions in order to do what is best for the collective. A figurehead to inspire hope and strength into others. Anyone who tries to stop him is a vile villain or, worse, an individual devoid of hope and addicted to their own misery. To anyone else they can see Prince for what he really is- a fool with noble intentions but far to gullible to ever see how he is being used to do all the dirty work. He takes his emotions as logic and fact. It is difficult to talk him down using reason, Prince can twist anything people say into an attack against him to reinforce his own beliefs.
