Mutt is a quiet man with unrelenting strength. He does not readily wear his emotions on his sleeve, but that doesn't mean he tries to hide them either. He's rather dense, but fiercely loyal. Mutt is often seen as a 'simple dog.' He has a very limited vocabulary, and doesn't often speak unless spoken to. Mutt is seen as a bit of an oddity, both among humans and his own species, and so he is quickly judged by members of either party-- both seeing him as a bit of an unpredictable monster, acting out when he's scared or agitated. 

Mutt is part of a militant humanoid alien race, which are aggressive by nature. Their upbringing methods are very strict. Their focuses were on raising their children to be soldiers. Strength and fighting came quite naturally to Mutt. He was rigidly trained in technique, but his more wild flair and unrestrained style takes over in a real fight. While diverse education was not highly valued in his society, it was still important for the future-soldiers to learn history, communications, and tactics. However, Mutt never showed much promise in those areas as he was never very street or book smart, so to make up for where he lacked, his training focused more on sheer brute strength and power, letting his raw emotions guide him. Anything that lead to conquest, dominance, or asserting power over another was a coveted skill amongst his species. However, authority and rank were just as important. One needs to know their place in their species societal structure.

The next step for him was to join the ranks of The Military. Mutt wasn't destined for greatness. His strength wasn't enough to get him on top. While his strength was a great help, the fact that he was unpredictable was a liability, and sometimes he was even seen as weak for it, when it caused him to step out of line. It was during a voyage with the troops, seeking out new lands to conquer, that Mutt saw life outside his planet for the first time. And after a while, Mutt moved on and found a life for himself away from his home planet. Mutt is techincallly a deserter, but he still wears his dog tags, unable to fully give up and forget hia past. However, members of Mutt's species who have immigrated to another planet are required to wear muzzles and as precaution and an identifier, due to their known deceit and aggression.

Along the way he met Baby, who became both his employer and his dearest friend because he did not run from the sight of him and gave him a chance, not only that but Baby showed him that life could be more than what he originally thought. Mutt lacks a lot of conviction, and therefore his devotion to Baby dictates his actions most of the time. He'd do anything for Baby. He'd die for him as well as kill for him. He trusts Baby with his whole-heart and can be rather soft towards him, but his softness is not exclusive to Baby, although some may believe it is.
