Valda grew up with a loving family and ended up joining a good company upon her first job. She even married her high school sweetheart and was starting to think he life was perfect. At least, until the bad news came. Her husband ended up cheating on her early into their marriage which left her heartbroken. After their divorce Valda ended up with the short end of the stick and needed to move into a small dingy apartment. She didn't mind however, and liked the smaller space. Over time she really made the home hers and decorated it with all various knick knacks and drapings of fabric along the walls. It was really starting to look like a home. She even made friends with some of her neighbors, some of which who had children. Oh how Valda loved children but had none of her own so she enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and their kids whenever they got the chance.

Time passed by and families would move in and out of the apartments here and there. That, and the company Valda worked for ended up being shut down and forclosed which left her without a job. She began working as a server and dishwasher at a local diner. A couple of men would hit on her but still being heartbroken, she let them down and continued her work. Yet there was still something missing in her heart, or so she thought. Until suddenly, when taking out the trash one day she heard a crying in the dumpster and found little Elysian resting atop some cardboard crying out in the dead of night. Jumping into action she did what she could to keep the child warm and ultimately took him home that night while she called the authorities.

It wasn't long after that custody of the child ultimately went to Valda who accepted him with open arms. This is what she wanted... A child of her own. She did everything in her power as a lower-class citizen to provide him with the life he deserved. She even took up wood carving as a hobby and created little robot dolls for her son to play with since she couldnt afford real toys. She often let Ely play with the neighbors kids and eventually he would end up with a best friend, Veno. Little did Valda know things would all take a turn for the worst when she had her first heart attack at 72. Needing to retire from her job, Ely actually subsidized most of the bills through his hobby of robot fighting competitions and helped to take care of his mother for the last two years of her life but ultimately Valda would pass away at 74 years old due to a heart condition leaving Elysian on his own at 16. He ended up taking over the house and even had his friend move in with him to help with the bills.
