James is a clumsy artist who is being studied at the Amir Meer Research Facility.

He is very awkward in social situations and prefers to spend his time painting alone at home. He isn't a very good painter, his clumsiness usually causing something to go wrong with his paintings, but he still enjoys the paintings he ends up with very much. When he was helping his parents packing up for their new store, he accidentally knocked over an antique tea pot and got possessed by the spirit trapped inside, Shun. They both have a bit of a language barrier, Shun only knowing Japanese and James only knowing English and some Chinese, but they quickly grew on each other and became good friends.

James reunited with his old classmate Damien and teacher Sarah. He became roommates with Damien and both he and Shun can't get along with him AT ALL.

He really misses his pet griffin, Lord Cushion.
