Hal didn't always used to be such an outgoing Novatt. When he was younger, he got into a bad habit of neglecting his health. This caused him to gain a lot of weight that he wasn't happy about and he would avoid even going outside and interacting with anyone because he was so unhappy with how he looked, and would assume that nobody else want to look at him either. This ended up causing him to be pretty depressed and he would just continue the cycle by overeating even more to make himself feel better.

Eventually he got some sense knocked into him by his older sister who reminded him that he basically needed to start living his life the way he wanted. It was around this time that he started trying out different exercises. However, he just couldn't seem to find the right fit. He tried just running but that wasn't very fun for him. He tried yoga but felt like he was too imposing in that kind of serene environment. Then he found jazzercise and fell in love with how much fun it was. He loved the music and being able to connect with others.

✦ Has a really loud, booming laugh - is afraid of scaring people with it.

✦ He doesn't get nervous often, but when he does he gets clumsy and jittery.

✦ Loves animals, but is forgetful so doesn't own one.

✦ Not as tame as you'd think when it comes to his "appetite." /wink

✦ Is a big fan of shag carpeting much to his friends' disappointment. Generally tacky.

✦ He values his family and friends very very highly.

✦ Reverts to his feral form when it's cold a lot of the time.

✦ Having his hair falling in his face is a constant problem for him but he doesn't cut it for some reason.

✦ He sometimes has "old man syndrome" despite his middle age when it comes to technology, and especially social media.

✦ He's very susceptible to having his mood reflect his surroundings so that's why he avoids sad music almost entirely.
