Profile
"I warm myself on the pyre of my family tree"
A wideset, fluffy white and grey tom with scars down both eyes. His jaw is frozen shut.
Dovemoon was the longest reigning leader of BlizzardClan for as long as many cats can remember. Few were as old as him in either Clan, and he's known as The Frozen Hearted Leader among those in BloomClan and BlizzardClan for his ruthless iron paw rule. Proud and stern, Dovemoon appeared at gatherings with his head held high and his grand frame squared, looking like an avatar of the mountain itself.
During a rebellion made up of BlizzardClan insurrectionists and their BloomClan allies, Dovemoon's terrible rule was put to an end in a tide of blood and bone. Executed by those he spurned and those he once called kin alike, justice was brought down heavy on the hound in cat's fur's head, and his spirit lies within the Unseelie Court.

Dovemoon has always been the kind to think actions speak louder than words. Even from a young age, Dovetail would let his claws do the talking for him, which is why he was initially a poor pick for deputy, a position which called for diplomacy and a level head. After the mysterious death of his brother, Shrikeclaw, however, Dovetail's attitude changed overnight.
Once a firebrand with a loud mouth, Dovetail seemed to take the death of his brother hard. He became withdrawn, cold and calculating. This, and the now sudden lack of competition, was what allowed him to take position as Crescentmoon's deputy.
Physical Description
Dovemoon is a wideset tom, with muscles hidden under a thick and sweeping grey and white coat that some say resembles the desolate windswept rocks of the mountain.
The large tom has no scars on his body, aside from two that rake down his face. It's now come to light that he obtained these scars in the fatal altercation with his brother, Shrikeclaw. Dovemoon has heterochromia, with one blue and one green eye, and also has six toes on each paw.
Since joining the Unseelie, Dovemoon has undergone a wicked transformation. The tom can no longer speak as his jaw is wlded shut with a thick layer of unbreakable, unmeltable ice. This permafrost makes it so his every breath comes out in a chilly fog. The scars on his eyes are now green as they have become overgrown with moss, and are nearby accompanied by a wreath crown made of autumn leaves. Along his back he wears a cape made from a thick blanket of snow. Everyone knows that The King approaches when the temperature suddenly turns freezing, and a thick fog rolls in...
Scars / Injuries
- Two long scars that run down Dovemoon's eyes. They do not impair his vision, almost as if they were surface scars, and didn't quite hit their mark...
Backstory
[Dovekit] • [Dovepaw] • [Dovetail] • [Dovemoon]
Early Life
Dovekit was born to Slateslide and Boartusk in a litter of three, himself, his sister Bramblekit, and his brother Shrikekit. Bramblekit didn't live to be past a moon old, but Shrikekit and Dovekit grew up in a fairly normal kithood, loved by their parents and their Clan. Shrikekit was growing fast into the level-headed one, with Dovekit as the hotheaded younger brother. They'd often get into scuffles, and if they got into trouble, it was usually Dovekit's fault.
Adolescence
Adolescence spelled a different story for the two brothers. Shrikepaw was apprenticed to Pinkskies, a respected and well beloved Warrior of the Clan for her great skills in combat and in diplomacy. Dovekit, however, was apprenticed to Mossybelly. It wasn't as though Mossybelly was a bad teacher, he was just...weak. He was a young Warrior, Dovepaw was his first apprentice, and it was quickly becoming clear how much of a pawful Dovepaw would turn out to be. While Shrikepaw made great strides in his apprenticeship, Dovepaw seemed reluctant to pay attention, had blatant disrespect for his mentor, and would often skip training with the excuse that he 'already knew' that training session's subject matter. Dovepaw wanted to be deputy as quick as possible, and felt that all of this 'training' was a waste of time when he was ready to be a full Warrior then and there. Time passed and Shrikepaw earned his Warrior name, Shrikeclaw, before Dovepaw. Mossybelly told Dovepaw that he was nowhere near ready for assessment, much to Dovepaw's outrage. How could Shrikeclaw be more ready than him?! They were the same age! A seed of jealous resentment was beginning to germinate in Dovepaw's heart, one that wouldn't ever shake loose.
Adulthood
After being held back a couple of times, Dovepaw finally became Dovetail, a proud Warrior of BlizzardClan. Though he was still hotheaded, brash and childish, he was quickly growing into a strong and formidable Warrior, who defended borders with unmatched ferocity. After his and Shrikeclaw's 80th moon, BlizzardClan's then-deputy, Lizardfall, succumbed to an extended illness. It was then that the deputy-ship was up for grabs. Both brothers had their eyes on the prize, and Dovetail couldn't stand that his brother was the favourite candidate for the role. Dovetail was considered too volatile, too childish, and he knew Shrikeclaw looked down on him for it. Dovetail had worked hard, harder than his brother all his life, to meet the expectations placed on him. It wouldn't be fair to have his dreams ripped out from under him at the final hurdle! A bitter cold shard of ice seemed to enter Dovetail's once fiery heart. Shrikeclaw would disappear that night, and Dovetail would return bloodied and beaten. When he awoke, fresh new scars on his eyes, he'd say that he and Shrikeclaw were seperated by a mountain lion, and that he'd fought the beast until he became overwhelmed. As he ran back, he'd heard...screams. Nobody truly knew what had become of Shrikeclaw that day, his body was never found. Suddenly cold and standoffish, presumably with grief at his brother's death, Dovetail was now fit to become deputy, as if he'd absorbed his kin's demeanour into himself. Eventually, Crescentmoon died, and Dovemoon rose to power as BlizzardClan's leader.
Dovemoon's reign began as it ended. A fresh start. BlizzardClan was hot off of the heels of the last great conflict between Mt. Solstice's two Clans and he knew he needed to get the Clan on his side if they were going to make it through the trials ahead. In his youth, Dovemoon was a strong and capable leader, bolstered by his Clanmate's need for strength and vengeance- which he promised in spades. Most would not live long enough to see this promise fulfilled. Over the course of his life, Dovemoon tried to raise many an heir to his legacy, an inner circle- kin with which to carry on his bloody reign long after his death...But he'd never been the intelligent one of the two brothers. In the end, most of his 'kin' saw him for what he was: A sad old man fuelled by fear and hatred of cats and dangers that were long dead. He was unable to move on with the future, and so, it was decided the future would move on without him. Killed in his own camp, Dovemoon died a tyrant and a murderer. His legacy is as tarnished as his very soul, and one can only mourn what he might have become in another life.
Relationships
STANDING
BlizzardClan
"Ye may call me 'frozen-hearted' now, but we'll see who'll have the last laugh when ye realize that the mountain is only as strong as it's leader. And I know now that you all are feckin weak."
Shrikeclaw
Dovemoon's brother and a well respected BlizzardClan Warrior, when he was alive. A paw-in for deputy.
"Shrikeclaw, dearest brother, if only you were gifted the foresight I was, we could have worked for a better BlizzardClan together! Your foolhardyness and sentimentality is what put you to this fate- not me. In our next life, learn your place."
Slushpup
One of Dovemoon's many ex-apprentices, and perhaps the most trusted of his inner circle. Dovemoon raised Slushpup as his own...for better or for worse.
"I wanted for you what I couldnae have myself in my youth- stability, love and a bright future. The weakness of others took it away from both of us- I regret not being able to protect you."
Starlingstorm
Dovemoon's last deputy. Upon his betrayal, Dovemoon decided to take the tom's eye as recompense.
"I can't respect the last moment decision. You spend so long by my side, my kin, and it's at the very last second that you switch your allegiance? You're weak, Starlingstorm. A weak little kitten who I should've gutted while I had the chance ... I miss our talks."
Razorwave
Dovemoon's wayward granddaughter. He had high hopes for her as his successor, and as a possible future deputy should she show the potential. Razorwave had other plans.
"I see now that ye weren't led astray. You were and are old enough to make your own decisions for yer life, and there's naught I can do now but respect it...Though it may hurt to hear, kin mine, you're a lot more like yer old grandpappy than ye could ever be comfortable with."
Loondown
Shrikeclaw's only living child, and a constant reminder of Dovemoon's victory. He... enjoyed her.
"You were one of my greatest projects, Loondown. Maybe ye rejected yer old uncle Dovemoon in the end, but you know I'm still buried in there, my influence in yer skull like a fecking parasite. You're more me these days than yer father."
Lambsong
A nemesis of Dovemoon's own making who represented everything he despised about the 'rot' within BlizzardClan. Stole his tongue post-mortem.
"So! Ye won in the end. BlizzardClan has shown it values your way over mine- it would seem that the mountain has moved on without need for the old ways. Fine. We'll do it yer way. But don't say I didn't warn you when it all falls apart."
Dragonstone
BloomClan's leader for Dovemoon's later years- they spent a lot of time speaking at Gatherings. Their relationship was mostly animosity, but Dovemoon had a respect for the young BloomClan tom.
"If ye weren't born of that middling blood I would have raised ye myself. There's potential in you that only I seem to see- even yer Clan seems to not realize it. They deposed you, did they? ...If ye ever want vengeance, you know which Court to contact."
Balsamtwirl
Dovemoon's oldest friend. His death was the catalyst for Dovemoon's most rapid decline.
"We stand in opposed Courts now. I do not know if ye dream of me as I do you, if ye even think of me, in fleeting moments. I think...If in our youth, I listened to you more... Things would have turned out differently. I had things to tell you I never got the chance to."
Rushspore
Dovemoon's closest confidant. The feelings are...still processing.
"Another time, another life. I'm sorry that, in the end, I didn't have the time for what you wanted from me. Though I didn't realize it at the time, I think my heart belongs to another. I'm sorry."
