Raised in the very busy Escutcheon household with three older siblings, all of whom were also vying for attention. Close to her older sister Aniseed and to her younger brother Luther, but a little more distant to her older brothers Gideon and Enoch. They were quite serious and physically rough-and-tumble, encouraged by their father who wanted them to enter the Enforcement company. Coral, as the youngest, was given far more freedom and generally allowed to get away with a lot more so there was a bit of a 'spoiled princess' phase, followed by a rapid growing pains phase. She clashed a bit more with her mother than Aniseed did, partly driven by her mother's outdated tradition of nominating the youngest child (usually youngest daughter) as the successor to be the 'family anchor'. The core strength of the family, the one who can keep it together and keep everyone else together too. Coral did not want this pressure, and she is certainly ditching this tradition for her own children. Over time, she grudgingly accepted it.

The age-gap between Coral and her older sister Aniseed is relatively small, so they always had companionship and someone to turn to when their mother was occupied. The age-gap to her older brothers Gideon and Enoch is a bit bigger, with the family seemingly raising the two boys together, then the two girls. As such, there was a bit of a disconnect between the siblings, though Aniseed eventually managed to break through and spend time with her brothers because of her interest in the enforcement company. It wasn't quite the same for Coral, who was interested in the Medic company and actually wanted to learn how to make others healthy, fix things, etc. So her older brothers did tend to look down on her for her naturally caring nature. Of course, they were a lot less vocal when it was time to have something bandaged...

Coral's childhood, aside from the sibling dynamic, was fairly average. Her father was a bit strict at times, but he allowed Coral a lot more freedom. This could be interpreted as a lot less interest in his youngest daughter because of her inclination towards being a Medic, but he didn't hug her any less than the others and still read her bedtime stories. In fact, Coral has very sweet memories, of family camping trips, beach days, all of the usual things that families should experience.

This was all challenged when Luther arrived. A total surprise to everyone, baby Luther came along as Coral was an adolescent. She would only get a few years with her newest brother before she would begin training and would move out of the Escutcheon homestead. Aniseed had already gone, joining the academy alongside their brothers. But those few years were very precious and she developed a very close bond with Luther. But it was hard to accept how cold her father had become. Even in her presence, the man practically ignored his baby son, even ignored questions *about* the baby, as if he just didn't exist. None of this matched up in Coral's mind, not with the person she thought her father was.

Coral tried to stay close, even when her Medic training, and then career, took her further into the sprawl of Hanto Magnata and away from the podunk where she had grown up. When it was time for her to start a family, she briefly moved back home (husband in tow) and could spend time with a rapidly growing Luther. She was amazed at how much attention he paid to her and then to the little bundle of fluff that was his nephew. The boy was a natural with kids.
