Positive:
Good Listener – Hurley is a good listener, able to take in what’s being said to him and reliably piece out what others are actually saying/what’s wanted from him as a response, whether in words or actions. He prefers to let others talk and discuss things while he himself stays in the background and listens to what’s going on.
Hard-Working – Hurley is an extremely hard- working individual, he applies himself to whatever task he’s given with gusto and zeal! Striving to do the best he can no matter what! That said he enjoys being useful and being put to use, regardless of how, preferring to have a task or job to apply himself to and keep his hands busy.
Imaginative – Despite enjoying having things to apply his time and effort to, Hurley is often caught in his own head, thinking and turning over situations and scenarios, both real and imaginary within the comforts of his own skull. He also uses his more imaginative side to find solutions to problems he faces, often the solutions are a bit out of the box but as long as they get the job done he doesn’t find any problem with carrying them out quietly and without drawing attention to them.

Quiet – Hurley is very quiet, soft-spoken and gentle-toned his voice rarely rises above what would be considered a normal volume for others on the rare instances he speaks at all, preferring to simply agree with others instead of arguing and doing what’s asked of him instead of refusing to.  

Negative:
Meek – Unfortunately Hurley doesn’t stand up for himself very often, often finding himself being walked over and spoken over due to how difficult he finds it to stand up for himself and what he’s thinking/feeling. His inability to speak up often leaves him doing what others want of him, regardless of what he thinks or feels on the matter.
Self-Conscious – Hurley often second guesses himself, whether it be due to what he says, what he doesn’t say or what he does or doesn’t not do, he’s very self-critical and doesn’t enjoy attention being paid to himself by others, preferring to deflect or redirect attention before other can look at him too long and see all the flaws of himself he sees.
Evasive – When Hurley is uncomfortable or nervous in a situation, meaning most of the time, he tries to avoid the topic, either by directly trying to excuse himself and escape the situation, or by talking around the topic and whatever’s being asked of him, giving non-communal and empty answers until the other party is appeased enough to let him escape.

History:

Hurley grew up a servant to a well-off fishing monger’s family, a family with several fishing ships under their control and a number of employees, both for the household and for the ships, under their coin. Hurley’s mother had been a handmaiden for the lady of the house while his father worked on one of the smaller of the family’s fishing vessels, causing him to be away from Onekama and in kind Hurley and his mother most of the time.

As a result, Hurley was raised primarily by his mother, learning everything she had to teach him and doing his best to learn the ropes of first everything needed to be a handmaiden, and then later when he realised his gender identity, how to be a butler instead.

Unfortunately, growing up as he did, the young Nickit was often spoken over, disregarded and ignored by those deemed his betters leading to him becoming quiet and subdued, finding a great difficulty in standing up for himself or putting his foot down, this led to him following along with plans he didn’t agree with for a number of years and eventually taking the fall for something done by one of the children of the family he worked for, and thus being dismissed from the family’s service.

Suddenly forced to live on his own, Hurley struggled to find work and somewhere to take him in, ending up in a rotation of work and unemployment until one day, during one of his unemployment periods he found himself wandering into a recruitment show held by the GCSF. The quiet young Nickit thought the ideals of the guild were good ideas, and was quite intrigued by the promise of work and a place to belong, thinking that perhaps he could join a Rescuer team or something similarly paced and easy-going for work. But as things usually went with Hurley he ended up getting spoken over, his own tentative opinions bowl-over and overlooked and leading to him sitting in front of a leader to a Bounty Hunter team.

Just when Hurley thought he with his quiet voice and non-existent fighting experience was going to be laughed out of the Ribombee's sight, the bug-type instead let him speak, remaining quiet and calm as he stumbled his way through a fumbling pitch. He wasn’t sure what to expect from the meeting, but it certainly wasn’t the Ribombee nodding at him after a long moment of consideration. ‘We’ll take you,’ they’d said, words sure and tone unwavering, ‘You’ll learn everything you need along the way. You’ll learn how to fight, how to defend yourself and others, you may learn how to stand up for yourself a bit. Welcome aboard.’

Taken aback but still incredibly grateful, Hurley found himself joining the Bounty Hunter team.
