Calliope was always very talkative and outgoing to everyone she met. She is very persistent in trying to make friends with people, or with everything she does in general. Her determination is shown when she fights or is faced with problems, where her focus is top-notch. However, she is prone to stubbornly force her weak body to work harder than she can manage, which can lead her to impulsive choices or self-deprecating comments.

The Ritter family might not be nobility, but it is very famous on the island. The members of this family all grew to become amazing knights and bodyguards, some even leaving the island to work for other nobles. It is highly respected and members of this family work for every noble house in Kekoa.
Calliope is the only daughter of the Ritter chief, and thus much is expected of her. Or, for better wording, her own expectations on her performance are very high. For a kid that was born with a weak body and got sick easily, training was very difficult for her. But she never gave up, and eventually even started going to the Leblanc family manor with her father to get some experience.
When the ship with Kekoa's nobles sank, Calliope also felt the ripples of the incident. She lost some family members in the process, nobody was that close to her, but it still hit her. When Jeronimo's sister was also considered dead, they helped each other cope with their losses. They both already knew each other, but that's when their friendship truly soared.
But as the Ritter family was smaller, the pressure for the young ones to start their career as bodyguards was only getting stronger. And Calliope's training scores were still very low, no matter how much she trained over the years. Her father was worried, not for the status of the family, but with the wellbeing of his daughter. He suggested her to try different methods, to travel and maybe find another way to fight, but she was too stubborn. Her family's way of fighting was the superior one in her eyes, so she must learn their way.
She wasn't gonna leave the island. She was sure of that until the day she and Jeronimo found the message in the bottle from his sister.
While she was still sure she would eventually hone her constitution so she could finally fight like her family members, in the end she decided to leave with Jeronimo. She of course was happy that he found a glimpse of hope in his life, but she also knew that he wasn't good at protecting himself. Calliope wanted to support her friend in his quest, and also get some field training for herself. Maybe, this way, she could finally be the true knight she always wanted to be.
