Elven Heritage

Thanks to his elven heritage, Jinyu has a few innate skills, including darkvision, an immunity to sleep, and a resistence to being charmed to others' will. He is also gifted with the somewhat rare ability to change his sex at will, something that many would consider strange or a blessing to be revered. To Jinyu, it's something that he feels puts him more deeply in touch with nature.

Mask of the Wild

Jinyu is very good at obscuring himself within natural settings, such as foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, or mist.

Wild Shape

As a druid, Jinyu can take the form of various animals at will, though only for a limited time. He's still working on improving this particular ability.

Natural Navigator

He has an excellent memory for maps and geography. Jinyu can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and landmarks, among others.

Quarterstaff

A snakewood staff with a curved end, about half a foot longer than Jinyu is tall. It serves as his druidic focus, and is decorated with some important things he's picked up on his travels (including a few of Rook's feathers).

Scimitar

For when spellcasting just won't cut it, there's swords! Jinyu prefers diplomacy above all else, but he's proficient at using his scimitar as well.

Leather Armor

Light but functional, cut for mobility and long wear.

Herbalism Kit

Full of the ingredients necessary for making remedies and potions, all gathered by Jinyu. Rarely he'll purchase obscure materials, but he prefers to use only what meets his high standards.

Beaglepuss

Jinyu grew up in an insular wood elf settlement, far away from any civilization. There was no reason to leave the deep forest, save to trade with the few adventurers that happened to get close. Everyone was very proud of their self-sustaining village and talked distastefully of the many races and cultures that had to rely on others instead of being truly independent. Jinyu spent his days studying in the sprawling library and following in his family's druidic footsteps.

He has an older sibling (Ailwen) and a younger brother (Cao) that, for the most part, he got along with while growing up. All siblings have disagreements of course, but nothing ever caused any major fights between them.

Jinyu's studies and deep focus on the core spirituality of nature taught him that everyone is created equally - at least from a natural standpoint - and that his culture's attitude is actually quite close-minded and harmful. He naively and enthusiastically tried to share this with his family only to be met with scorn. He was barely old enough to be considered an adult and so he was brushed off as an uppity child. Jinyu knew in his heart that he was right though, and left his home to see the rest of the world. He wasn't sure what do with himself at first and spent awhile living on the edges of the woods until one day, a kenku named Rook dragged him out and onto an adventure.

The road ahead...

After dealing with the trouble in Phlan, Jinyu and Rook decided to keep traveling onwards. Unfortunetely, they lost track of Dirk somewhere along the way - he vanished one night without warning - and they're just...hoping that he's a problem for someone else that doesn't get traced back to them. For now, Jinyu is content to continue his quest of learning about as many races and cultures as possible, and also maybe pick up some thieves cant from Rook.
