Jasper's Links
jasper and Charlie know each other through their lives as vigilante superheros. while they often argue about their fundamental ideas about what it means to be a hero, they are both pretty quick-witted and and capable and make pretty good friends for the most part
charlie and jasper are mostly friends through hero work, but do know each other's identities by now. charlie's past as a villain meant that jasper didn't trust him at first, and he still occasionally does things that don't line up with their idea of heroism, which can drive a wedge between them at times.
Jasper came to Silver City to make a life for themselves that they felt would be worth living. They never pictured that life would include someone like Apollo. They first meet after he saves them from a villain attack, and it's the final push they need to decide to become a hero. They spend a lot of time trying to get to know him better, knowing that there's something more under his hostile and arrogant exterior. And when they finally see it, they curse themselves for liking it so much. They have no idea if this could ever work out, and they don't want to get too close. But who knows? Maybe, just this once, they can let themself have something.
Magnum Opal really has very little desire to make nice with the street vigilante Photon, but that doesn't seem to be up to him, because Photon is constantly seeking him out anyway. They're pushy and disagreeable and introspective and witty and funny and kind and...whatever, that's not the point. But... they're also sort of the only person who has ever seemed genuinely interested in getting to know him. So, why not humor them? And so what if he likes their company, there's nothing wrong with that. And maybe sometimes he thinks about them a lot when they're not around, that's perfectly normal. And when Jasper asks him on a date, what's wrong with him saying yes? They're different, so different. But maybe... maybe that's what they need.
Jasper does not like Alistaire in present canon because of their black and white worldview, but after going through a shared trauma as well as a few years of slow character development they become pretty close actually and are very open with one another.
Jasper and Alistaire meet through their sole mutual friend, Charlie. Alistaire doesn't really feel any strong way about them at present of canon, just finding their obsession with the hero shtick a little eyeroll-inducing. They have friction because of Alistaire's dedication to villainy, but it goes unexpressed Most of the time. For Charlie's sake, perhaps.
Later, working closely together towards a common goal -- against Neo Dominus -- allows them to begin to warm up to each other. What they each go through during the culminating battle, and recovering at the same time in the hospital with no one else to talk to, forces them into vulnerability with each other -- afterwards, Jasper is the only person Alistaire can truly openly talk about his feelings with without abstraction.
Path met Jasper when they crash-landed in his forest, Path mistaking them for a bright falling star. Since then, Path has looked up to Jasper, admiring them and wanting to keep them safe. He sorta follows them around like a puppy. Path cares a lot for Jasper and thinks of them as a friend.
After finding out about Jace and their powers, Jasper is a little bit creeped out in all honesty. They seem nice enough though, and generally respectful of the boundaries Jasper sets forth once they actually talk about it
Big fan of this one, stays up at night thinking about their inner turmoil and hopes that they can overcome their challenges, wants them to have a good ending!
