Lily was an unplanned kit of two rouges living in the outskirts of a small town. Her mother ended up leaving them in search of a life she deemed more desirable and free. Lily and her father continued surviving on their own for a while as he'd go out searching for food whilst she stayed put in an old barn.
However one day he failed to return, and Lily was left to fend for herself at just 5 moons young, she remained in the barn for a few days before hunger took over fear and she headed into the nearby forest. She thankfully crossed paths with 2 Wingedclan-cats on patrol; with pity and compassion for the young cat they offered to take her back to the camp.
The other cats were able to confirm the death of her father cause by a monster. Out of respect for Lily, they decided to not share with her the details of his death, until she herself was ready to hear it. Regardless to her, she had now been abandoned twice and she remained both untrusting and distant towards her superiors whilst also deep down never wanting to replace the idea of her real parents.
The young cat responded well to training and enjoyed the structure of a warriors day to day life, as well as found comfort in proving herself and building her strength and independence. Although she had missed a kithood as a warrior she caught up quickly with the other apprentices, showing great potential and passion.
However she struggled to connect with others cats her age as well as respecting those older than her, she excelled in fighting but would become difficult and short tempered doing activites she disliked as well as receiving instructions from cats she disliked. It was until she was paired with Magpiepaw, a young healer in training, to go out patroling and herb gathering that she experience a connection rather than a divide.
It was a surprise to see two cats so opposite becoming great friends so swiftly. Lily with her self assertive and bold spirit was met by a shy and timid Magpiepaw and they balanced each other out. They each brought out and challenged each others' weaknesses and whilst one learned to dare and take action more, the other learned to find calm and see the beauty in everything around her. Despite not being able to spend much time together due to their different apprenticeships, they loved to catch up whenever they got the chance to be alone.
Lily had developed feelings for her friend and confessed them too, she knew Magpiewing loved her back. But at the same time those feelings were also not reciprocated in the same way and Lily knew that too. However the hurt cut far deeper when not long after, Magpiewing ran away from their home without so much as a goodbye nor a reason. Lily searched for a long while but had to eventually give up and only hope her friend were out there safe.
With love so strong the anger grew large in return when Magpiewing showed up again many moons later. Learning she had simply ran off and never were in danger stung deep and Lily felt betrayed and even worse: abandoned once more by the one she cared for most and who knew of her fears better than anyone.
Deeply hurt and angry she refused to talk nor acknowledge Magpiewing for several moons, everything came to a halt when Wingedclan was forced to battle hostile enemy cats. Caught by surpise admist the fighting Lily was mortally wounded and a distraught Magpiewing was swiftly by her side but unable to do anything to help. Gently rocked in Magpiewing's bloodied paws, Lily had now been the causality of her friend's greatest fear coming true; just like Magpeiwing had with hers.
