Gaia grew up in foster care for most of her life. She used to live with her parents but they qucikly gave her up around the age of 6 after realizing she has Knock Knees. They took her out shopping at a market, told her to stay and wait and never returned. She doesn't know why they did that but regardless she's held a huge resentment towards them. She never saw nor heard from them again after that. She stood in the same spot for a couple of days until a random pediatrician took her to an orphanage.

After being sent to the orphanage she was put into foster care. She was rowdy and a difficult child to control which lead her to be passed around from foster parent to foster parent. At the age of 14 she grew sick and tired of this and ran away. Luckily for Gaia she meet a nice lady who was a thief and took her in raising Gaia as her own child. Gaia looks up to her and considers her as her real mother.

Due to Gaia having Knock Knees walking has occasionally been painful. Even when she isn't walking she sometimes is still in pain. Her adoptive mom manages to steal a magical necklace one day while robbing a rich person's house and gave it to her. Although the necklace can't fix her condition it is able to get rid of the pain as long as she wears it. Sometimes she does take breaks from wearing it but it's usually at night when she goes to sleep. She is able to use other magical spells with the necklace like turning invisible or summoning and lightning strike but only does it when it's an emergency.

At the age of 20 Gaia decides she's read to follow her adoptive mom's footsteps. She parts ways with her to start her own independent life and new career as a theif. Her mother gave Gaia a dog tag necklace as a parting gift. Sometimes she does visit her mom to catch up or rob a house together.
