Kitae is a young man of great renown, in his village, Aureif, that is. Born to a pair of noble aristocrats he spent the first few years of his life indulging in easy luxuries and joyous laughter. Those comfortable years regrettably came to an early end when a snowstorm swept over the lands and his doting parents were lost with it. Cruel, the planet can be, even to those made of its own Dust. With a connection built on hatred, Kitae became intertwined with the nature of Snow and Ice and his power did not go unnoticed. Soon the orphaned boy found himself being fostered by The Lady of Frost, The Oracle of Aureif, and groomed to be her successor until the day before his coming-of-age ceremony, where he took his chance to escape.

Rime and Frost makes for a miserable home and its Mistress for a poor mother. The Lady of Frost has never been kind to Kitae and at best regards him with calculated apathy. At worst? She sees the boy as a nuisance and a chore, making no secret of her disdain for his presence in her court. Few allowances are made in this household, while Kitae must study whichever topic catches the Lady's fancy and leaving the estate is strictly forbidden, he at least managed to argue for lessons in the noble sport of fencing, his smallest solace in the dreary days.

Leaving Aureif

The night before his ascension, Kitae took a chance. In a young man's desperate attempt at seizing his future, he packed a small bag of mismatched belongings and left his homely prison. Where to? To do what? Those are the kind of questions he will surely figure out on his journey to "anywhere but here". And luckily for him, he won't have to do so alone.

• If Kitae were an animal, he would certainly be a cat.
• Since young, he's been fascinated with fire and used to wish he were a flamecaster.
• He was raised with impeccable manners and is more than capable of diplomacy.
• Oftentimes he chooses to be impolite and downright rude to people. (He is an asshole)
• His fingers always look frostbitten and although he swears that he doesn't feel cold, his skin is frigid.
• He's started a journal full of pressed flowers, an homage to his mother's favorite hobby.
• On days where it's easier to lose his temper he longs for a fireplace and his gaze gets stuck on burgundy fabrics.
• The days where he's calmest are the hardest for him to live through.
