Driftrunner

Driftrunner is an elder of WindClan. He is the son of Fallenhope and Twistedstream. He received Windwhisker as a mentor. He was an apprentice during the time of Bone Shred's attacks on the Clans. When the rogues attacked the WindClan camp, Driftpaw ran to RiverClan's camp for help, though by the time they got back the battle had ended. Driftpaw grieved for his father and mentor, both killed in the battle. Driftpaw completed his training under Wetbelly.

As a warrior, Driftrunner became the mate of Hazelfrost and fathered Tornadopaw, Scorchpaw, and Sharppaw. He also mentored Petalflame. He was shocked and hurt at Tornadopaw's uncontrollable behavior and accepted his exile, knowing he was beyond help.

Driftrunner fought in the battle against Deserve's Army and later mentored Glowpaw.

Driftrunner is one of the fastest cats in WindClan. He loves racing around the moor and is very focused when hunting.

Driftkit was born in WindClan to Twistedstream and Fallenhope.

Apprenticeship

Driftpaw was apprenticed to Windwhisker. During his apprenticeship, the Clans were attacked by Bone Shred's rogues. (Beyond the River, allegiances)

When the WindClan camp is attacked by the rogues, Driftpaw runs to the RiverClan camp for help. He awakes the Clan with a wail as he stands by the entrance to the camp, breathing heavily as blood streams from his shoulder. He begs Shimmerstar to help them, terrified and tripping over his words as he quickly explains that the WindClan camp is being attacked by the rogues, and they're outnumbered. He tells them his father is already badly wounded, and his mentor, Windwhisker, is dead. (Beyond the River, chapter 22)

Driftpaw races and leads Shimmerstar and the other RiverClan warriors to the WindClan camp. When they reach the camp, they find they're too late, and the battle has ended. Driftpaw cries out Fallenhope's name and bolts across the clearing to his father's body, pressing his muzzle into his fur and sobbing. (Beyond the River, chapter 22)

Following Windwhisker's death, Driftpaw was assigned Wetbelly as his new mentor and completed the remainder of his training under him. (Beyond the River, allegiance update 7)

Warrior

After Bone Shred's defeat, Driftrunner becomes a warrior of WindClan, and the mate of Hazelfrost. They have three kits together: Tornadokit, Scorchkit, and Sharpkit. (Starfaith's Fate, allegiances)

Driftrunner receives Petalpaw as an apprentice and greets her warmly. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 1)

Driftrunner is limping as he visits the medicine den, embarrassed as he explains to Silverberry that he was chasing a rabbit and didn't see the rabbit hole in front of him. He tripped and sprained his paw. Silverberry is mildly amused, asking how many times he's been told to watch where he's going. She adds that she knows he's one of the fastest cats in WindClan, but sometimes he needs to slow down. Driftrunner apologizes in embarrassment, saying he was very focused on the hunt. When he winces, Starpaw worries he's in pain and needs poppy seeds, but he says it's not too bad. Silverberry wraps his paw in elder leaves and tells him to rest his paw for a few days, adding that she'll tell Monarchwing to keep him off patrols. Driftrunner is disappointed, but agrees she knows best and asks about Petalpaw. Silverberry guesses that Gladestar will have her train with Firetail and Blazingpaw until he's recovered, and assures him she'll be fine. Driftrunner limps out of the den and thanks Silverberry and Starpaw. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 2)

After Tornadopaw is injured by a fox, Driftrunner pokes his head in the medicine den, alarmed as he asks if he's okay. Tornadopaw hisses at his father to leave him alone. Driftrunner stares at him for a moment before retreating. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 6)

Driftrunner questions Gladestar about Jaystreak, concerned that he killed Icetail. Jaystreak defends himself. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 7)

Gladestar decides that Tornadopaw will be confined to the camp for the rest of the moon, and Jaggedear and Driftrunner will guard him. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 10)

After Tornadopaw eats a rabbit for the elders and mocks StarClan, Driftrunner stares with his jaw dropped. When the apprentice claims StarClan doesn't exist and medicine cats are either insane or begging for attention, Driftrunner leaps to his paws in disbelief, telling his son that's enough. When Gladestar orders Tornadopaw to leave, Driftrunner shoots over in protest, pleading with Gladestar to give his son a chance. Gladestar softly reminds him Tornadopaw has had plenty of chances. Tornadopaw spits at Driftrunner that he isn't his son, as he'd like to imagine my father isn't a weak, dumb rabbit-chaser. Driftrunner bristles, shocked and hurt. He looks away, unsure what happened to him, but stating it's clear he's beyond their help. He slowly goes to the warriors' den, not wanting to see his son leave. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 13)

Driftrunner is concerned about Rosemary poisoning the stream. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 14)

Drifttrunner and Whitehare hold assessments for Glowpaw and Foggypaw, and both pass. After Dewstorm's vigil, Driftrunner solemnly comments how caring and devoted he was to WindClan. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 23)

Retirement

Driftrunner sits with Whitehare, proudly watching as Foggylight and Glowpetal are made warriors. He has planned to retire afterwards, so Monarchstar officially names him an elder. Driftrunner jokes that he'll miss catching rabbits on the moor, but will still catch them on the fresh kill pile. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 25)
