Stormstar was a leader of ShadowClan. He is the son of Lynxprowl and Echopool, mate of Silverblossom and father of Dewstorm and Diamondrain. He led the Clan during Bone Shred's attacks on the forest, and initially wanted Poisonedsap killed, but after Maplefur's persuasion, allowed her to join ShadowClan. Stormstar decided to oversee Flamepaw, Timberpaw, and Copperpaw's assessments, and when the group was attacked by two foxes, Stormstar sacrificed himself so that the others could escape.
In death, Stormstar ascended to StarClan. Depthstar succeeded him as leader of ShadowClan. Stormstar visited Dewstorm multiple times in dreams at the Moonstone.
Stormstar is a dark gray tabby tom with green eyes.

Stormstar is noble, brave, kind, strong, and cared for his Clan above all. Many cats thought he was a great leader.

Silverblossom is Stormstar's mate. He was very proud to announce she had given birth to his kits. She grieved deeply when he died. She felt that Stormstar was the bravest, strongest cat she's ever met, the best mate any she-cat could ask for, and a wonderful father. She already missed him dearly, but knew that one day they'll hunt together again in StarClan. She tried to leave the camp to find his body, believing he deserved a burial. She soon joined him in StarClan.
Dewstorm is Stormstar's son. He was proud to be his son. Dewpaw was shocked and upset when he died, but knew that Stormstar was safe and happy in StarClan, and that he would see him again at the Moonstone. He and Stormstar met in dreams on at least one occasion.

Deputy
Stormheart is the deputy of ShadowClan.
Leader
He eventually rises to leader, becoming Stormstar. He appoints Pinetail as his deputy. He is the mate of Silverblossom and very proud when she gives birth to Dewkit and Diamondkit. He is proud when Dewpaw becomes a medicine cat apprentice.
Bone Shred's Attacks
Stormstar leads his Clan during Bone Shred's attacks on the forest. He suggests that each Clan increase their patrols. He grieves for Redblaze when she is killed by the rogues. After Pinetail's death, Stormstar confidently selects Depthwater as his new deputy. During the battle against the rogues at Fourtrees, Stormstar lunges for Bone Shred, but is knocked clear off the Great Rock. He angrily and reluctantly calls for ShadowClan to retreat, wanting to prevent further deaths.
Accepting Poisonedsap
Upon meeting Poisoned Sap on their territory, Stormstar is unmoved by her story of innocence and orders Crowmask to kill her. However he listens to Maplefur's arguement of how Howlstorm and Dandeliontail were good cats of Bone Shred's. Much to ShadowClan's shock, he allows Poisoned Sap to train to prove herself, unaware of her dark intentions.
When Poisoned Sap cleverly arranges for her former allies to attack Dewpaw and let her save him, making herself out to be a hero and earn Stormstar's trust, the Clan leader falls for it and makes her a warrior. Milkblaze speaks to Stormstar privately and tells him his suspicions and evidence against the former rogue, and Stormstar considers this, deciding he might have been too quick to trust Poisonedsap. He plans to watch her more closely and speak to Depthwater and Hawkfeather about it, unaware that she has overheard this conversation.
Leaderly Sacrifice
While out watching Flamepaw, Timberpaw, and Copperpaw's assessments, Poisonedsap lures two huge foxes to the group, hoping they will kill Stormstar and Milkblaze. Stormstar battles against the foxes, and when he sees that Timberpaw is stunned and about to be attacked, he furiously kills it. He runs and lures the other fox away from the group so they can escape. The fox catches up to him and kills him, dragging his body to its' den.
StarClan
In death, Stormstar ascends to StarClan. He gives Depthstar one of his nine lives and often visits his son, Dewpaw, in meetings at the Moonstone.
- At Timberpaw's warrior ceremony, he requests that he be called Timberstorm, in honor of Stormstar, who gave his life saving him from the fox. Depthstar agrees to it, sure that Stormstar would be honored. Silverblossom is emotional. (Rainheart's Love, chapter 3)
- Stormstar was never buried. His remains are in the abandoned badger / fox den on ShadowClan territory. (Rainheart's Love, chapter 3 and 6)
- Rainheart was killed by the same fox that killed Stormstar. When he runs into the fox den to commit suicide, he trips over Stormstar's mangled skeleton. (Rainheart's Love, chapter 6)
- Starpaw purrs to Dewpaw that Stormstar must be very proud of him. Dewpaw looks embarrassed and purrs that being a medicine cat isn't exactly like being Clan leader. He adds that it's great to be able to share dreams with kin, and they're lucky, as most cats can't. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 2)
- After Dewstorm's medicine cat ceremony, Hawkfeather tells him that Stormstar and Silverblossom will be very proud of him. (Starfaith's Fate, chapter 8)
