.•Personality & History•.
Asterkit was born on the night of a half moon in a clan which desperately needed a new medicine cat. After their previous medicine cat Snailpelt had been deemed as a traitor to the clan for misinterpreting an omen and killed for her crimes, and their current medicine cat Vervainshade who had been wrongfully chosen as one was itching to be a warrior and soon the deputy of the clan, a kit from his litter was to be named as the next medicine cat of the clans. To make matters even more complicated, his father was not from Oakclan. His mother Antumbra had fallen for Crookedfern, the now deceased deputy of Jaggedclan, who used her to gather information on Oak clan which resulted in the death of his grandmother. While he had died in a battle before they were born, their origins were a huge risk to Oak clan as well as their own safety due to how unhinged Halfstar had become after the loss of his mate as well as his medicine cat. Luckily his mother had found a new mate in Whirlspot who had no issues with taking in her kits as his own. He adored them just as much, if not more then their mother and Asterkit looked up to him one day wishing to be as great of a father as he was. After all, it was his duty as a potential future heir to keep Oak clan's roots strong and have kits of his own some day.

At first it seemed as though his sister Daykit had been chosen to be the new medicine cat, after all she was a very odd cat having dreams of flowers and staring off into space for hours on end as if she was already half in Starclan... That was until she showed incredible hunting skills by catching a robin who landed in the wrong tree at only 3 moons old and continued catching prey in or around camp quite often. His sister Violetkit had then been considered as she was quite small, however that was quite short lived as she protested the role heavily. She had her sights set on being the leader one day, especially after being outshone by her sister... She would not only start her battle training early but she would also set up fake signs to point towards how he should be the medicine cat. However, despite his sisters he had already known his fate as he had vivid dreams of being visited by a large white tom with a short puffed tail who smelled strongly of the warm scents of the forest plants. He had visited a few times, however Asterkit was unsure about giving up his dreams on being able to have a family of his own which made it difficult for him to admit his visions to anyone else. Unlike his sisters, he lacked any talent for hunting or fighting despite having great promise being quite a large and graceful tom, however the thought of harming anyone or anything made his stomach churn at the thought. He gravitated towards keeping his sisters out of trouble and would constantly be looking out for the wellbeing of everyone in the clan even as a little kit.

A few days before he was to be made an apprentice, he made the decision to become a medicine cat. He told his mother and father who couldn't be more happy for his choice, even if it would come with a lot of work and heartbreak. He learned as much as he could from Vervainshade as Asterpaw, however he couldn't help but feel uneasy around him. He had heard the rumors that he had been the one to kill Snailpelt despite trying to resist Halfstar, and his knowledge on dangerous and deadly herbs and plants unnerved him. He was thankful that Whiteberry had visited him in his dreams to help him learn what Vervainshade was uninterested in teaching, especially as Halfstar wasn't willing to allow him to stay in Rose clan for a few moons to learn from Wispcall.

At 11 moons old, he received a strange dream. He was well on track of being a fully fledged medicine cat, however a lean white and grey spotted tom visited him instead of Whiteberry. Stars didn't shine in his fur, and he smelt of rot and death. Despite this, he was quite charming and spoke softly, telling him that he could help him change the medicine cat code so he could be a father and continue to serve his clan. He was weary and felt as though he shouldn't trust this cat so he ran from him and his offer, yet he felt oddly comfortable with him and felt as though he was saying the truth. He had always thought that the rule against having kits as a medicine cat was mouse brained, but he also did not want to do anything that could risk the clan and the cats that he loved. He did confide in his mother about his odd dream, which did make her nervous. The last thing he expected was to find out that later that night his sister Daypaw had disappeared. His mother was a complete wreck for moons until they saw her at the next gathering finding out that she had run off to join Rose clan. While most of his clan didn't take the news too well, he could tell that his sister was happier there and accepted her decision, especially noticing how strongly Vividstar had taken to his sister and made sure that she was in good paws. Violetpaw however took it the hardest, turning completely on her sister and nearly starting a battle at the gathering. Daypaw had clearly wanted to speak with him about something before Violetpaw decided to ruin the meeting, however even after trying to meet with her in secret she had refused, scared to have any involvement with Oak clan after she had left. Since then, the odd cat had appeared in his dreams a few times and every time he would run from him. He had a feeling that he had something to do with his sister leaving, but without knowing anything about him he wasn't able to ask any questions or find out anything about the strange tom.
