Candice

A retired veterinarian who now presides as mayor over the little town of Darlam. She is rather popular and well-liked by the townsfolk, who tend to regard her as something like a "mother figure". However, she tries to remain humble.

Candice is a liger (lion + tiger hybrid) in her early-to-mid 60s. Her personality is kind, patient, and motherly.

Relationships:
Peggy [Ex-partner / fellow mayor]: These two were once a dating couple who spent a few years living together. They later broke up on "good-but-awkward" terms, then went their separate ways for a while. It came as a shocking coincidence when they both happened to become the mayors of their respective towns! Now they try to put the past behind them and focus on working together in a strictly professional capacity.

Zachary [Friend / ex-not-quite-stepson?]: Zach is Peggy's son who Candice helped raise for part of his childhood. Candice is grateful to have regained contact with Zach, as she had missed him quite a lot during the time that she and his mum were ex-communicated. She thinks he's grown up to be a wonderful young man, and she feels very fortunate to still be friends with him, despite the awkwardness between her and his mum.

Nigel [Cousin]: These cousins have known each other since they were children, although they grew up in different towns and didn't interact much then. As adults, they connected on social media, and eventually formed a friendship. When Nigel decided that he needed a change in life, Candice was the one who suggested that he move to Darlam- and they're both very glad that he did!

Elanor [Friend]: Candice's animal-loving buddy! Elanor and Candice met while working with each other at the animal shelter, and the two of them have been good friends ever since. Now that Candice is often busy with mayor stuff, she and Elanor don't have nearly as much time to hang out as they used to, but they still try to catch up with each other for tea at least once a month!
