Profile

A master of necromancy, even if only against their will.

Died young, dishonorably killed during a showdown with a much younger, albeit far more skilled swordsman. Even after the adversary left Mallory's body to rot, she managed to revive themself in time through her ability. This disgraceful incident served as all the more reason for her to train even harder.
Currently is on the run from Eigil's underworld hunters, who are looking to claim their soul from their body. Although they no longer are able to manipulate any dead other than themself, they have spent the last several years practicing their swordsmanship, becoming essentially one with the blade.
Mallory was taught about black magic since the days they were a toddler, soon inheritor of the family's gift of necromancy, following a macabre family tradition. However, as the eldest child of the Achlys Clan by many years, born distant between both generations from a controversial teenage pregnancy, they never fit in with their siblings and cousins, never followed in their family's steps, never felt quite at home; always secretly seeking refuge. They practiced their swordsmanship to stray further away from the dark arts, pursuing a low profile and clean slate. In a tragic and ironic twist of fate, it is the very same dark art they attempted to escape from that keeps (absolute) death at bay.
She uses an old, rotten wooden sword; originally, it was a dead tree's root they pulled from the ground. As it is built of essentially dead organic matter, it can be "reanimated" as well through necromancy, especially since it quite literally bonded to Mallory through so many years of usage. They can alter it on a mollecular level to be sharper, lighter, and stronger than any steel, but despite its power, it remains connected to them on a literal level. This leads to Mallory not being quite able to use any other sword with anywhere near as much proficiency.
Their extremely pale skin is adorned with dark bruises of a purplish hue, shaped in a malicious design, typical of ancient rituals of necromancy (these markings gather most at the forehead, near where necromantic activity runs strongest).
