Personality

For Anna, trust is the most important aspect of a relationship. She trusts easily and freely, even when it leads to a broken heart, because she knows everyone is different. Her active lifestyle requires her to be energetic and enthusiastic most of the time, which she has to work to maintain. She gets stressed easily but has a good support system in her partner, Kali. Her reputation for being kind and patient proceeds her, and many people know that she's a pleasure to work with even without meeting her. Due to being (voluntarily) estranged from her immediate family, she is very protective of her chosen family. She's very much the Mom-type. Her drive to support and care for those around her, while useful and welcomed, sometimes comes to the detriment of her own mental and physical health. It usually takes a third party stepping in and breaking her out of the cycle in order for her to recover.

Appearance

The first thing that people notice about Anna is her favorite color: green. Most of her clothes are different shades of green. She mainly sticks to sundresses or skirts and crop tops, either paired with sandals or running shoes. She's slim and only 5'4", which can make the sight of her muscles all the more unexpected. Her nose and cheeks are dusted with freckles and are rarely covered by makeup. Her eyes are bright blue and big--the epitome of doe eyes. That, coupled with her round face and soft features, she's easily mistaken as being younger than she actually is. Her hair is naturally blonde and darkens depending on how much sun it gets. She keeps it short and in no exclusive style, as long as it doesn't block her vision.

History

Being the eldest daughter of a Russian immigrant and an American woman was interesting. Her father owned a small restaurant business and her mother was an accountant. They were securely middle class—she never had to worry about food or clothes or toys. They had a modestly sized house when she was born, but they moved when she was six because her mother was pregnant. She was seven when her little sister Nadia was born. Both her and her sister were sent to Catholic school, but by the fourth grade, Anna demanded to be sent to public school. Her request was initially refused, so she hatched a plan with her best friend to get her expelled. It only took a staged kiss between them for the nuns to send her home; she was in public school by the end of the month.

Once she hit middle school, Anna turned to sports. She did soccer first, but was eventually drawn in to gymnastics during a field trip. Despite breaking her ankle once and dislocating her shoulder another time, she continues gymnastics to this today, albeit only casually. She was somewhat popular in high school due to her bubbly personality, but never hit the higher ranks since she wasn't interested in going to parties. At fifteen she began to question her sexuality and flopped between the labels of bisexual and lesbian for a couple of years. But because she grew up in a semi-small town, she didn't date any girls until she went to college a few hours away from home.

Relationships

Mikhail Kozlov

Mikhail is Anna's cousin on her father's side. They have an unusual relationship that is wholly independent of their blood relation. Mikhail started out as a strange, rude newcomer suddenly living in her house, and it took several years for them to actually start hanging out. By the time he was kicked out seven years later, they were close enough that she was the only person who knew where he was, and was subsequently the one who called an ambulance to save his life after a suicide attempt. After she graduated high school, he followed her halfway across the country, where they shared a small apartment. Mikhail was involuntarily a burden on her, as his unstable employement history left her to carry most of their shared bills, and that placed a strain on their relationship. Eventually she moved to Chicago for a job and moved in with Kali. They hardly talked for a year while Mikhail picked up the pieces of his life and matured. Nowadays, they work together in professional settings and occasionally spend quality time together.

Kali Evans

Kali is Anna's partner of several years. They met in college, when Anna tried out for the soccer team, for which Kali was the star athlete. While Anna didn't make the cut, Kali introduced her to the intramural team, which they then joined themselves. Their relationship was very, very slow; Kali, unused to having crushes, never figured out how to flirt effectively or voice their feelings. It was eventually Anna who asked them on a date, and gradually they fell in love. Kali is one of the few people who steps in and forces Anna to take a break from helping people to focus on herself.
