Fairground is a Decepticon with, frankly, very little allegiance to the cause and very MUCH allegiance to Doing Whatever Will Make Starscream The Happiest, which usually involves poking his helm where it doesn't belong back on Cybertron. You can imagine how that goes for him (poorly!!!). Would he commit outright treason for him? Um... next question, please!
Fairground is very good friends with Quickchange, as the two often swap stories of very nearly avoiding getting executed by Megatron. Shortly after they met he had a compartment installed on his back plate to carry him around (nothing nearly so sophisticated as Soundwave's chest compartment, of course, just a simple little device).
