Damocles did not intend to lead his life with as much trickery as he ended up doing, but when an opportunity presents itself, one would be remiss not to seize it, no? A penchant for wordplay in the fae realm makes taking advantage of opportune moments that much easier, and at the end of several centuries of minimal effort, Damocles finds himself fairly close to the top of the metaphorical ladder.
So of course, from his towering station, he notices when a human queen falls into the realm, swinging her sword. Humans love to think themselves powerful with a bit of magic and a proficiency with a weapon, but they are far more maleable than they realize. She escapes-- but from afar, he watches the telltale signs of a kingdom who's monarch is slowly going mad.
