With the deal struck and treaty signed, Ambrosius expected that he would not have to consider the end of his reign for a long, long time. And perhaps a millenium is such a long time, but for a fae, it's far too short. Forced to abdicate, with a sword at his throat, Ambrosius made little attempt to defend his claim to the throne-- there's little to salvage when his court has alredy turned against him, after all.
He soon learns that there's even less to salvage with the life he's now escaped with, the aftereffects of breaking the deal with the humans gnawing at him. A newfound curse to haunt him, a mirror of the curse the current human queen wields herself. It may not be madness wreaking havoc on his immortal mind, but the gilded veins carving through his flesh bear a comprable burden all the same. Body weakening and immortality decaying, he remains unyielding to the siren calls of death. Not. Yet.
In a better life, he meets Seraphina.
