 Info

Duck is an eccentric and sociable gravent currently living in a small apartment in inner Stonewing. He works as an actor and a comic, though his acting skills greatly outweigh his comedy. It’s not uncommon to spot him performing on stages at bars or local theaters for tips. If asked about his career, he will likely say that he is a “messenger of the arts”, referring to the gravent’s typical role of spreading information and news across Skire. He’s carefree and optimistic, believing that good things are always around the corner. He has no problem walking up to strangers and striking up conversation. It’s rare to see him in a sour mood, but when something does go awry he usually holes up in his home and sulks for a few days before returning to his normal cheery self.

Duck was formed and grew up in Stonewing. He spent most of his childhood trying to latch onto his skirean peers, but his loud personality drove most people away. Other gravents, in their chatty nature, were the most tolerant of his seemingly endless well of words and questions that he’d spout at anyone who would listen. As he grew up, he discovered his love of theater and began pursuing it as an art form. He would mimic street performers and perfect his craft from his loft apartment, often giving himself verbal feedback despite being the only person in the room. He will often make small comments to himself out of habit even in public settings.

Duck believes himself indebted to Coffin for nursing him back to sobriety and safety after drunkenly crash landing in his graveyard. He has tried to repay him numerous times, from baked goods, to favors, to rather costly gifts from the city. Each time has been met with Coffin’s brash and irritated attempts to get him to leave him alone. Half of the time Coffin wouldn’t even answer the door when he arrived, much less let him in his cabin. When he did, he met the gravent with a scowl and pushed past him to begin his duties in the graveyard, which Duck attempted to help with. After many months, Coffin eventually grew to enjoy having company again and tolerated his presence more and more.

In the present day, Duck is the only Skire allowed in Coffin’s graveyard. On particularly laborious days, he stays overnight at the cabin and they chat for hours on end. He’s even managed to make the CCCat laugh a few times. Coffin never lost his outward meanness, but expresses his affection through lingering moments of contact and conversation.
