Profile
Cruel, manipulative, and pragmatic. He typically appears composed and is seen either sneering or stern, but this is merely a front; he is actually rather unstable and emotionally volatile with a fierce temper, which he does his best to hide. Though he would never admit it, he has a strong sense of justice, which manifests in vastly different ways depending on his stage of life.
Cunning and intelligent, he is knowledgeable in matters both magical and scientific, having dedicated significant amounts of time to the pursuit of both. He has a natural affinity for earth magic and is a formidable opponent in combat, though he prefers not to get directly involved.
As a shifter, his true form is essentially a mass of black sludge, eyes, tentacles, and sharp teeth. Its shape vaguely resembles that of a spider's, but it is ultimately rather fluid and dynamic in nature. While he is in his human form, hints of his true form show through his shadow; he can manifest it as black tendrils that grow visibly inky and slimy the more his grip over his human forms slips. The mark on his face is actually how his kind scars; it was inflicted upon him by Alistair many years ago.
A shifter masquerading as a priest in service to the Old Gods who were once worshiped all across Auster. The continent vaguely resembles Victorian England, with rudimentary magitechnology being developed primarily by the once-great Khidian Empire.
To put it simply, he's a major antagonist whose primary goal is to destroy the world. Under his disguise, he carefully nudges the course of history through whispered words and deceit in order to bring about his ruinous vision. Believing that both humans and shifters alike are depraved creatures beyond salvation, his jaded nature has turned him somewhat sadistic, and he is unaffected by the suffering of others brought about by his own actions. However, circumstances cause his allegiances to shift, and he ends up an unlikely ally to Lysandre. This unexpected turn of events leads Enoch to ultimately help save the very world he wished to condemn, albeit begrudgingly.
In the aftermath of the world's salvation, Enoch is sentenced to two centuries of servitude, during which he must devote the wealth of his knowledge to the rebellion's reconstruction efforts. In specific, he becomes an archivist for the Archive, a grand library of books and tomes built into the towers of the old Empire's castle.
He spends much of this time contemplating his life, and gradually comes to appreciate the ironic freedom from the veil of his own hatred. Lysandre in particular is a frequent visitor to the Archive, and the two grow closer, approaching a distance that flouts the line between friendship and love.
Two centuries after the evaporation of the Font, Enoch finishes his sentence and enters into a world completely foreign to him, somewhat resembling the Western 1920s. The times have changed drastically, and all of the humans he once knew are long passed. For a few years, he makes a name for himself as a surgeon, practicing medicine for those in need. But eventually, he receives a call for help from a familiar old enemy and finds himself at Alistair's doorstep.
The extended time in captivity has made him softer and kinder and more appreciative of life, though in many ways he is naturally still the same person. The two reconnect and strike off something new together, abandoning their old grudges in place of something unexpected.
