Cherri is a highly dubious scientist in service to Zephira, one of the monarchs of [location]. Despite her rank, she doesn't agree with Zephira's belief that stripping angels of their immortality will be enough to put them on even ground and therefore more open to negotiation, and instead dedicated herself to research on how to kill them permanently since it takes the gods a not insignificant amount of time to create more. During her research, she discovered the weapon used during the god wars that had been shattered but not completely destroyed. Cherri managed to track down one of the shards, which had apparently merged with some guy but it's fine, she... extracted it. :)

She started experimenting with the shard to create a new weapon and, lo and behold, she even got a chance to test it when the second shard she found came with their guardian angel hot on their trail. With just one shot, the angel was maimed and even lost consciousness. Instead of finishing them off, Cherri decided to tag them so she could find out the extent of the damage and left them there. With this tentative success fueling her, Cherri has been continuing her work tracking down the remaining shards ever since. :)
