ABOUT
"Let me tell you a story..."
The right hand man of "The Abyss" Captain also the first officer. The ex-captain of two crews. Born in midle-class nobility and married to a lady from a higher shelf. The man who cut his own leg and lost his hand while protecting his Captain. The definition of loyality, willpower and masculinity. He is not the warm, funny old man who will give you some candy, bear hug and tell some fairy tales. He will tell you about his amazing and bloodcurdling adventures. He will offer you a light of wisdom by giving life advices. He will cheer you and motivate you for doing what you love and want. That's the most Diarmand's things. He was always keen on learning, reading and writting, that's why he was like a symbol of wisdom for his crewmates and best advisor for Captain Luo. He still loves those things, that's why he works as an editor and journalist nowadays.
He is deeply hurt by the tragedy that happened in XVII century, he also is almost unable to forget someone so if you do something bad for him, he will defenitely reminds you of what you did in EVERY occasion, directly or more passive-aggressive. Stubborn, old man. He won't stop doing that. However he isn't full of hate and anger, he's a very chill guy if you get closer to him. He likes to be between different people with different interests. A great protector and somehow a parental-figure who will show you how to do something rather than doing this instead of you. Diarmand doesn't speak much on daily basis, but he loves to tell many stories like a good papa, sometimes he can add something from imagination to make this story even cooler. He has the great story-telling skill which is also great at his work.

Story
CHILDHOOD
He was born in middle-class noble family in Scotland which allowed him to gain a lot of knowledge and skills. He liked to learn and was an excellent student. This kind of child who bump into things because he had his nose stuck in a book. As a nobility he has a duty to get married. Of course he had no word in this topic and parents chose him a wife. Odetta O’Glais. She was from a higher shelf, higher nobility, it was a great occasion for Diarmand’s family for social advancement. They met when they were both about 10 years old and got married when she turned 16 (and she was younger than him of course but fortunately not this much, about 4-5 years). Fortunately he fell head over heels in love for Odetta. She was way different than people said about women. She learned him how to treat women with respect but also with equality. He learned her about things that were “not for women” and helped her in ‘feminine’ tasks (they didn’t cook or clean because they had servants for it). They loved each other to the moon. However his destiny somehow thwarts it.
Diarmand felt the interests in sailing since he was a little kid. His uncle was a sailor and he loved spending time with him and learning about his boat and sailing skills. His dream was to travel through seas and oceans, just like his uncle! Diarmand’s parents weren’t keen on this idea and did everything in they power to keep him away from the sea and his uncle. He didn’t listen. He was talking about this at family gatherings, balls and other banquets. He made boats from napkins. They were no way to stop this burning passion. He has been so stubborn since youth. He was also mad whenever parents didn’t allowed him to meet his uncle, he knew that his duties was just random things to keep him an eye on him. The older he got the louder their arguments became. However he can’t complain about his relationship with his parents. They weren’t bad. They just didn’t understand his will to be free, surrounded by water.
THE SAILOR, THE CAPTAIN AND THE PIRATE
In his late 20s’ he partly run away from home. It wasn’t a secret runaway but no one thought he will do it for real. He started sailing by the royal orders. He and his crew were protecting royal trade ships from pirates and other dangers. Finally, the sea breeze, the ship living, some sailor jargon and no noble-tasks. And most important of all: he started growing his famous, glorious beard. However as time went by, prizes, treasures and wealths started to attract him more and more. That’s why he started to play a little bit harder. His uncle was against piracy but this couldn’t stop Diarmand from becoming the captain of pirate ship. He gained his crewmates from previous ship mostly. People who were done with being ruled by the King were perfect for commiting crimes together. Diarmand was always ambitious, of course, he had a dream to be feared of, to be known for being a great captain of the most powerful crew the world has ever seen! Like Blackbeard, but way earlier and with ginger beard. Gingerbeard or something. His great years of piracy. But someone who didn’t like being ruled by someone wouldn’t not be obedient for long. During one of their fights his crewmate, bloody Spaniard, turned out to be a traitor and helped enemies in winning and catching Captain Gunn. That was his fall from the throne. They forced him to walk through the plank and tied a sack of cannonballs to his right leg to make sure he will drown. But they weren’t able to put out the flame in his soul! Gunn cut off his leg. He still didn’t say what tool he used, but I guess no one wants to know the details.
He probably wouldn’t make it if another Captain didn’t find him. Captain Luo. That’s why he was so attached to her. She literally saved his life and gave a new one. He quickly became her right hand man and the first officer. He wrote logbooks and helped Captain by giving her advices. He completed his tasks without complaining and was the most obedient person on this ship, I guess. Of course he had his free will, Luo didn’t force anyone to anything.
THE ABYSS LIVING AND (ALMOST) DYING
The new deck and crew was a little bit more calm than his previous one. He wasn't a leader this time, but he didn't wanted to be. Ming Luo was a great leader. It was the time for this firely passion to cool down a little. Diarmand felt good as an First Mate and the advisor. He also loved writing and practiced his handwritting, now it's really unique and pretty. The Abyss maybe wasn't very famous, cruel pirate ship (yet), but he had a feeling that he was meant to be here. A better home than his own. It went even better when some new faces appeared on a ship. He met a young soul with so much passion and energy, someone who had a lot to say but also with an open mind to learn. Peter Grinn, that was his name! His way younger best friend. Little buddy. Maybe somehow a son-figure but he treated him more like a younger brother. Diarmand was the person that took him away from a boring servant life and showed him how freedom looks like. They went with each other so well, almost without words. Shortly after Peter- Leonel appeared. He was way different than Grinn, and his circumstances of joining the crew was also different. However he had the same goal: realese from his unsatisfying (in this case: tragic) life. He couldn't speak English, which was a huge obstacle to get to know him, however Diarmand didn't gave up and learn him how to play puns and show what he meant by gestures. New, great captain and a crew full of young, passionate souls was better than Gunn could even imagine.
The old dog stayed on a ship no matter what. He wasn't surprised that some of crewmates felt lied when it turned out that Captain is a woman. However he still can't understand what difference did it make? They just were about to quit, for sure, lazy asses! Diar knew Captain's secret earlier, he suspected something even before but he really didn't care about Luo's gender, she was a great leader and still saved his life. Diarmand was worried only because of her pregnancy. He hadn't had the occasion to take care of a pregnant person. Especially that piracy wasn't a job when you can have a break and chill out on a ship while others fought. That was also a moment when he got closer to Gianmarco, a future father, who also was very worried about his partner. Two worried men and one really stubborn pregnant lady. Such a comedy. That was quite fun period and Gunn likes to remember it. Even if that was also the moment he lost his hand. He was protecting his boss from an unexpected attack.
However the sweet life couldn't last forever. Younger Grinn (aka Mini-Peter) joined the crew and wasn't a burden to Diarmand. It was kinda cute whenever he saw how Peter took care about him. Sometimes he wished to have a brother. He hadn't got strong relationship with Clifford but some young spirit on a ship was refreshing. Even if Diar's grumpy ol' man since forever (many crewmates believed he was born with a beard). He also didn't mind Cliff's relationship with Leonel, not his buissnes. In that time he focused on their reputation and being on top. Again. It hasn't ended up well perviously, so did it now. First there was a lot of neglect in his and Leonel's friendship. He got closer to Peter because the same goals and ambitions. Diarmand was never afraid of blood and guts, he murdered enemies with cold blood (especially when they were a threat to Captain), however he went even more violent at this point, mildlife crisis or some shit lmao. Things got even worse when Clifford died. He saw many commrades death so he didn't bother much, such a pity he was young and had a chance to do great things in life but pirates' life doesn't give a shit about your age. That was the life they choose. Peter seemed to not understand it somehow and Diarmand was trying to keep him sane. He failed. He failed hard.
Gunn might be a little bit colder at this times however he didn't not care about his crewmates. He showed them affection more by actions and being the responsible one rather than saying nice things etc. He also started to be tired of the atmomsphere on a ship. It was harder after the Mini-Peter's death. The older Grinn's passion seemed to fade. He didn't saw any signs of revenge he was planning. Crewmates starred to disappear, they got murdered by Peter, which he hadn't any idea of. If he connected the dots earlier... Gunn and Captain focused on solving this mistery however they had a lot of other responsibilities to do and take care of. Pure chaos. And it got worse. He was the second one who saw Captain's dead body, after Gianmarco. Something broke in him. He feels the grief till this day. He also got strong flashbacks from his previous ship when crewmates started to believe HE murdered Luo. But Gassisi couldn't stand it any longer. He did the massacre. Diarmand can't forget him. Even if he has no idea if Gian is still alive. Gunn was sure he is gonna die, when Gianmarco tried to strangle him with some wierd magic force. Luckily Leonel rush into this fight and even thou they were thrown overboard it saved Diarmand's life. Thanks to Leonel, again, who was concious this whole time and drag him into the whirpool. The time portal. Holy shit, what the hell! Bloody Spaniard saved his life, such an injury to the pride. But he's very grateful to him and now they're close friends, even closer than ever before.
THE NEW, MODERN LIFE
He has better start in learning XXI century life, since he was able to read and write properly. However his old boomerish ind didn't help him much. He is still trying to learn modern stuff... his greatest success was getting a driver license. It was the hardest battle of his life. The beginnings weren't easy, he was in a great pain and grief, confused of what happened and almost run off by a car. The weird stranger get to the rescure. That's how he met Gloria. They convinced each other that they could trust each other. By stealing each other's stuff. Welp, at least it worked. She turned out to be a medium, so she knew exactly who was on their way and who should they met. She took them to the cave in a woods, where lived a noble Lady. It was Kasia of course. And her demonic...something. Creepy. Then, the great hope appeared. Morgan! He found them a place to live, far away from the big, modern city. It started getting a little bit better. The Witch and The Medium taught them basics about the situation. They explained something about demons and magic and other weird stuff. He can't understand it exactly till this day, but he's trying! Meanwhile appeared some other weirdos. A heckin' vampire. The blind artist- Catharsis, and GIANMARCO'S brother, who was ex-asassin- Benvolio. Diarmand thought nothing will surprised him ever. And suddenly, Peter surprised them all with an unexpected attack. And magic tricks and powers. Diar's and Leo's new friends beat his ass but they weren't safe here anymore. That's when Morgan suggested to move in his brother's house, that is protected for bad magical influences. That's how Diarmand met Wolfgang and... now they're happily married. They take care of Gianmarco's grandsons (Dante's kids)- Ludovico and Azael. Wow, his somehow a dad. He got hired by a press redaction where he can write and tell as much stories as he wants. Splendid! He also saved a child. His little sweetheart Crimson, who got kidnapped to be saled for probably horrible purposes. That was a stupid luck, that Diarmand told about this case in press and radio and because he knew some infos from police, he recognized kidnappers' car. Unbelieveble. It turned out this innocent being has nowhere to go. Her parents got murdered or went missing. She was so scared, poor little soul. However she started to trust Diarmand, because he rescued her. That's why he adopted her, of course it wasn't so quick and easy but he succeded.
He's now still living with the whole bunch of weirdos, 3 kids, his lovely husband and Bernese mountain dog. Memories of his previous life, Odetta, Gianmarco and the whole betrayal he experienced still haunts him. Same with grief of losing Captain and the anger for Peter's actions. He's trying to stay neutral with him. He cannot forget him, he's very unforgiving, however he misses the old times with his Little Buddy.

Wolfgang Reynolds
He would never guess he is supposed to marry a man. But this man is a perfect choice. Wolfgang's crush on him was quickly guessed by Diarmand, however he didn't want to hurry. He was embarassed too. Still missed his wife, not sure if he come back to her or what. But time was passing by and their relationship went deeper and deeper. Wolfgang is his anchor, his introverted, calm mind often helps Diarmand to stop and think again. He also adores Reyndolds very much. He let them stay in his house, cared for them as a perfect host and at the same time he worked with complicated magic things. Now he sees his tendecies to overwork himself, which he tries to fight. Diar is also a stubborn hard worker but he knows the rest is obligatory and reminds it to his husband. They are two mature and experienced old men in love, an old marriage couple, deep love and enormous comfort. Both serve and rely on each other. Diarmand loves when he lies down on his chest and plays with his beard, very relaxing.
Leonel de Sousa
Yaar! The bloody Spaniard! Now it's like an inside joke to them, which Leonel doesn't always like. However they're close to each other now and Diarmand tries to compensate the times when he was harsh to him. He didn't deserve it and realization took him to much time. When they first met he was trying to make him feel comfortable at the deck, he learned him how to speak english and some basic knowledge like reading and writing, which wasn't easy. He also had an idea to play puns whenever Leonel forgot a word in english. They still do this. After Clifford joined the party and the affair between Leonel and Peter raised he distanced himself from both of them to avoid the conflicts. That's why he started to be not so nice and he became even more salty after Clifford's death and the dissapearance of some crewmates. He also went through a "i'm the king of the seas" phase... When Leonel saved his life he had some problems with showing appreciation. Because he was ashamed about how he treated him earlier. Now he is able to thank him, not in public but at least he can!
Peter Grinn
*sigh* This one's hurtful to the guts. He really thought Peter was his little buddy, someone who looked up to him and learned from him with the same passion young Diarmand once had. He can't forgive him but he also can't hate him. They were a perfect duo, great partners in crime and they still can work together just like before, quick and clever. Grinn still asks a lot of questions per minute, which Diar appreciate a lot in him. The curiosity. However his curiosity also led to their doom. That's very hard relationship for Diarmand. Especially when he remember the moment before the tragedy. He tried to cheer Peter up, to ensure him, that he's not alone and he still has a family that can take care of him. Gunn thought he helped and Peter trusted him. Why he was so blind? Why he hadn't seen anything wrong with his behaviour? He wasn't able to connect the dots between Clifford's death, Peter's madness and crewmates dissapearance. Was Captain's death his fault...? Grinn wish Diar would feel guilty for this. No way, you filthy traitor.
Katarzyna Bielawska
He was raised to treat women as gentleman should, so he treats Kasia with respect. However while living with his wife he saw how indenpented and different women can be, so he wiped out the stereotypes out of his mind. Kasia is really small and tiny, so that's why he sometimes acts gentle too much. But he is open to learning how to treat her properly as an individual. There is no way to not like her, by the way. She might be a little bit goofy but she is also lost in XXI and Diarmand likes whenever he can educate someone and Kasia is curious but also has a lot of advices to Diarmand. She also understands how it is to live between nobilities and be different, unaccepted and rebelious. He is also a little bit scared of Mr Spelly, her weird non-material protector and he doesn't want to anger him... however he is all ears to learn something about him. And also Kasia's XVIII century life.
Morgan Reynolds
A witch who can bring someone back to life sounds scary but Morgan is very wholesome. Even if Diar has strong leadership tendecies he sees Morgan as his guide, for sure. They all can feel more safe and have a place to live thanks to Morgan. The witch is also has a wide knowledge about a lot of things and helps Diar and the team to overcome insecurities and realise them first. And he is not a stiff grumpy guy (like Diarmand used to be often...), Morgan is such a loud jester and creates a very chaotic duo with Peter. Gunn thinks they deserve each other and even his mixed feelings towards Grinn, he was very happy for Morgan got married with someone he love. They often talk about their exes, not in a bad light, however both of their husbands don't like this topic so they can complain and mention the influential women of their lives.
Azael & Ludovico Gassisi
He doesn't remember the moment he became a dad to them. Especially that Ludo is like...hundereds years older. But with much younger mentality. Diarmand knew their real father, Dante. Of course he remembers this little kid, he was like his uncle! So he was pretty shocked that his little pal wanted to sacrifice his children to Satan. It reminds him of someone...(duh!). Azael's short temper and Diarmand's strictness formed a father-son relationship. The grumpy old father and rebelious son relationship. However he wants best for him and tries to help avoiding troubles. But this mean guy can drive him crazy very quick. Azael calls him father. Not Dad, not Daddy. FATHER. Or Pops, because he is old. Diarmand tries to understand him and give him a much warmer and comfortable look on him, but it's not that easy as he ever thought. Ludovico is another workaholic of this family. As a doctor he has a lot to do and Diarmand understands it, however he is also worried as a good parent. Diar knows he can't raise him, because he is an adult but he is always open to help him and give advices. He also sees his similarity with Gianmarco and he tells him about his grandpa a lot. But he hopes Ludo wouldn't kill anyone in anger... He got used to be their parental figure and now he likes it more than at the beginning. It's no matter if he raised them from a child or not, these two are his family and he will keep taking care of them.
Clifford Grinn
He appreciated his involvment, he hella remind him of Peter, noone would tell they're not related. Diarmand didn't spend much time with the young one. Although he also hoped nothing bad will happen to him because he knew how important he is to his older brother, Gunn wasn't naive and felt the tragedy in his guts. He didn't predicted how big tragedy is about to happen because of Clifford's death. He doesn't blame the youngster, of course. Now in XXI centurty he sees small horns on this little devil's head. Another similar trait to his brother. However Clifford doesn't bother and annoy Diarmand this much, he's even helpful in understanding what young people likes nowadays, which is crucial to his parental role. At the ship Diar also couldn't complain about him not fulfilling his chores. The biggest disadvantage of younger Grinn is his... evesdropper curiousity. He's such a drama and gossip-'girl'.
Veronica Resendez
Captains Luo reincarnation or what? To be honest, he sees a lot of differences but also a lot of similarities and he is ok with that. The best boss he could wish. He treats her with a lot of respect, almost like towards Ming. She's a good pal to deep conversations about life. They offer a shoulder to cry on to each other.
Gloria Jakova
Another life-saver and also another talkative person in this group. Great! She lived so long and talks about her all adventures. It's very inspiring. He truts Gloria and her predictions. Sometimes talking to her is stressful with an awareness that she knows everything. But it's also amazing. Gloria also helped him to make out with Wolfgang. Her disadvantage is that she's a little bit too much...a gossip-girl type. Reminder: she's a fucking MEDIUM!
The rest of the squad
He has no enemies in this group or someone he can't stand. He's a little bit afraid of Benvolio but he's trying to help him with finding his brother. He doesn't want to meet Gianmarco in person but maybe he is somewhere and Benvolio would protect him from his magic, if needed. Olgierd, even if he was also an asassin, is way different. Well, not this much, but he is smiling at least. He is curious about life and Diarmand convines him to try exploring life again. Which makes him a trusted one to Andrej, Olgierd's dad. Boomers just get along well with each other and talk about boomerish things. Great. Catharsis might look scary but he knows she's not dangerous. Her family is pretty fucked up, especially her sister she ran away from, so that awoke Diar's big-brother-father-figure instincs. He always wished to have siblings! Her age doesn't matter...even if it's above 700 years. The last member is Theseus, another young, passionate soul. Even if Diarman seems to not enjoy modern-youngsta things, complains about their irresponsible actions etc, he always appreciated their passion, as we know. They not much close to each other but Diarmand is curious about his knowledge about technical stuff and his inventions. Great job, buddy.
Crimson Gunn
Their relationship is a literal example of "Daddy's little princess". He saved this little girl and she trusted him first and they're attached to each other. Diar never had any experience with babies and is still stressed about doing something wrong. He is now responsible for this child's growth. It's a great onus. He tries to not spoil her, she doesn't even want to get spoiled. Such a little angel however he is even more proud when she acts like children suppose to: make some noise and mess while playing. He also doesn't want to favoritise her, he knows it's unhealthy and not fair for other "children". Crimson's presence is like an exam for a good parent.
