Summary
Mbali is quiet and skittish, but also very compassionate. She would do anything to keep her family and kingdom safe, including sacrificing herself to a loveless marriage. She’s clever but doesn’t show it much, preferring to hide in her shell until she can’t anymore.
Mbali on the other hand is very shy and hard to get close to. She doesn’t trust others fully until she knows they won’t hurt her. But even then she’s very closed off. She doesn’t mean to be on purpose, but being raised to be quiet and the perfect future wife makes it hard for her to voice her concerns or let others get close.

"What's it like being queen? Is it everything you hope it would be?"
"I’m still learning the proper mannerisms and rules of being the queen, but it's a lot more… freeing than I thought it would be. I mean, Bahati watches me like a hawk sometimes- but everyone else does what I say. Sure, they could be humoring me, but it’s rather nice when I can ask to be alone and everyone does just that. It’s also very nerve-wracking sometimes. I’m allowed to join council meetings as long as Bahati does the talking for me, but what I hear about what’s going on during those meetings is quite scary. I just hope I can help once I get my husband to trust me…"

"What's your favorite past time?"
"Um, If I get any free time I usually hang out with Raz or Jua. They’re good friends, and they help me when I need to learn new things about Rimaal. Raz took me to a secret oasis that isn’t too far from the kingdom, it’s very pretty and it became our hang-out spot when we needed a break from council meetings. It’s quiet over there too, sometimes I take naps there if I’m able. Jua likes to pick flowers with me, he helped me make a garden on my very own balcony."

"What's your favorite childhood memory?"
"Mmm.. My favorite memory is small. But Nukauru and I used to go collect flowers from the forest to make crowns or bracelets. It was nice. It was the only time mother and father didn’t look for us and we spent a lot of time just hiding in the woods until dark. Always scrabbling around in the dirt or climbing trees. I missed moments like that."
