Profile

Aspect of the caged god Sielvayr, created with great difficulty.

A willful and temperamental young man who hates his entire family and his twin brother specifically.

Many years ago in the city-state of Treveis, a pair of half-elven twins was born to the city's new governor. This was a bit of a mystery because the governor was human and unmarried, but presumably they came into being the normal way and so a mother must've been present at some point. Saraph, being an intelligent and curious child, was immediately taken by this mystery, especially seeing as he had many other siblings and shared few traits with any of them. His curiosity and piercing questions soon got him into trouble however, and he was very young yet when he first felt the touch of the whip. The agony of the experience taught him that his home and family were hostile and the world was unsafe, and he became angry, rebellious and withdrawn, and the day he recovered was the day he first tried running away from home.

Being a naivë young child dressed in very expensive clothing he immediately caught the eye of bandits, who soon after caught him. And that should have been the tragic end to his very short life but for the fact that a mysterious young man, introducing himself only as Karlos, swept in and killed all the bandits, leaving not a single soul alive. Karlos then promised to take him away, if he only wished it. Such an offer, especially coming from a mass murderer who hadn't blinked when killing the bandits and did not even spare the other captives, obviously made Saraph extremely suspicious and he absolutely refused, preferring death to being forced to follow some madman. Karlos, for his part, merely shrugged and left, telling the child to call his name if Saraph ever had need of him, leaving the child very confused.

Saraph was found and brought back to his "father"'s estate soon after leaving the bandit's hideout, and was whipped yet again for running away. After spending even longer in recovery he decided instead to train and study so that he would have a better chance of escaping when he grew older, and diligently he applied himself to his studies. His newfound obedience and the speed at which he learned both surprised and pleased his "father", who was glad he was finally following his twin's example. Saraph, for his part, viewed both of them with scorn, especially his idiotic twin who was always so ready to please their duplicitous "father".

As he lived his lie and prepared himself for eventual escape however, he soon grew more and more suspicious of the conditions of his "family". More and more siblings appeared but there was never any hint of a mother, any mother, so from where had these children come? And the older children, they all disappeared without a trace, allegedly to live out their own lives outside and yet none had ever visited again or even written a letter. None of the children were allowed to leave the estate and thus were unaware of the strangeness of their own situation, but for a few short days Saraph had, and thus could not shake his own suspicions. He chose, instead, to investigate the estate.

And what he found was far worse than he could have ever imagined. A breeding stock consisting of the females of various immortal races, used to produce the children. His older "siblings", strung up and harvested for parts, to maintain the strength and youth of his "father". And it would have been his fate too, if he stayed long enough to reach adulthood. He tried fleeing again that night, and met again with a familiar face.

The human Karlos now appeared in his true form, that of the demon Krazstos. And the offer was made again, to take him away if he wished it. To Saraph the idea of merely exchanging one monster for another was unimaginable and so he again refused, but was curious enough to ask, why?

"In another life, you made me a promise. I'm here to make sure you keep it."

The demon's answer raised even more questions and yet no further detail would be given, and so Saraph went on his way. He only lasted a few days, however, before his pursuers caught up to him and brought him again before "father". The madman ranted and raved as whips tore open his false son's back and Saraph, with nothing left to lose, boldly confronted him with his sins. It was obvious, then, that the boy must die.

It was only at the very last moment and with no other choice that Saraph finally called out Karlos's name, and in that instant, true to his word, the demon appeared. The world was painted red as blood and flames engulfed the estate, and it was only then, with the complete ruination of his old home, that Saraph was finally able to leave his cage, carried out in the hands of a demon.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire?

POWERS:

  • Flame Manipulation - great power, not so great control
    • Auto Pierce
    • + Purification
  • Analysis
  • Auto-Dodge + Conditional Spd
  • Refresh

SKILLS:
  • Swordsmanship
  • Writing
  • Drawing, art & general craftsmanship

COMBAT STYLE:
  • An aggressive and straightforward fighter, mixes swordplay and magic
  • Incorporates a lot of flash-step dodges into his moveset and his flame attacks pierce resistance, giving him a high damage output and consistent dodge. Unfortunately he is also rather fragile and has limited stamina, making him entirely unsuited for battles of attrition

NOTES:
  • Apparently his twin is still alive and trying to rescue him? What's up with that?
  • Currently seeking out a specific category of ancient legendary weapon, religious iconography and . . . jewelry(?) so he can absorb some kind of secret hidden power from them
  • A real handyman, very talented at fixing things
  • Due to his half-elf nature, he appears to age more slowly
