Isnain

Alsina, better known as Director Isnain, is the assistant director of Zubayr Theater. She graduated from Amurta Darshan with honors and is the former Mahamata overseeing the Bimarstan. She is Sheikh Zubayr's right hand and is responsible for directing stage design, designing and engineering props, costumes, overseeing safety measures, as well managing funding and budgets since she doesn't seem to trust Mr. Zubayr with the Mora too much...

Known as the scholar who brought the Pursina's Spikes back into the modern era of Sumeru, Isnain is highly sought after by the Akademiya higher-ups. Unlucky for them, Isnain had already made up her mind to leave the Akademiya in favor of pursuing her passion for the arts. In a nation that values rationality and wisdom, most people would think of her as a wasted potential, but Isnain prefers her current position over the stressful environment of the Akademiya anyways.

Isnain, birth name Alsina, was born to a family of renowned scholars. Her father is a Spantamad researcher while her mother is Sitara Pursina, an Amurta graduate and a nurse at the Bimarstan. Through her mother, she is a member of the House of Pursina, a rich and well-known scholar family in Sumeru. Sitara's mother was an exiled member of the House of Pursina. After eloping with an Eremite mercenary and conceiving Sitara with him, the both of them disappeared in the desert. Leaving Sitara to beg for help from the Pursina House. She was eventually taken in, but was looked down upon by her family members, causing her to pressure Alsina to appeal to the expectations of the House of Pursina.

Alsina is a product of an arranged marriage to tighten the bond between two scholar families, which is not an unfamiliar sight in Sumeru. While her mother was only in for convenience, her father was utterly smitten with her, which is the reason why Alsina's grandmother agreed to the arrangement. Despite that, both of them had already agreed to part ways when Alsina was old enough to be on her own. With her parents being busy and active scholars, she was raised by her grandmother, who was a Kshahrewar scholar, alongside her cousins, Albiruni and Alhaitham, for most of her childhood.

Alsina was a precocious child. While she did not inherit the natural brilliance or extraordinary intelligence her family seems to possess, Alsina is a clever and had shown a special interest in art and crafts, which her grandmother sees as a potential for her to study in the Kshahrewar Darshan. Even so, her mother wished for her to become a student of the Amurta Darshan. As a child, she was often compared to Alhaitham by the adults around her as a means of 'motivation' but this only causes her sense of jealousy and inferiority towards him to bloom. The two often had fights when they were young, with Albiruni separating them when their fights went too far. It's safe to say that Alsina's relationship with Alhaitham was rather strained. However, she had a close bond with her grandmother.

Alsina's favorite pastime as a young child was drawing and reading books at her grandmother's little library. She doesn't go out very often, but she always nags at either her grandmother or her older cousin, Albiruni to take her to the Grand Bazaar to watch Zubayr Theater Troupe performances.

After her grandmother's passing, Alsina inherited a portion of her properties and her small library which she shares with Alhaitham. Later, Alsina applied for the Akademiya and was admitted into the Amurta Darshan. She was informed that her grandmother had also applied for her to be able to attend classes in other Darshans, hoping that Alsina would come to realize her own identity and follow the path that she wishes to pursue on her own terms.

Alsina attended Kshahrewar classes in her free time. During those times, she became involved in an Interdarshan project between Amurta and Kshahrewar concerning silk flower harvest and textile production. The project turned out to be a success for both parties. A portion of the fabric and a prototype of the newly enhanced sewing machine were given to the students involved by the Akademiya as per regulation. Because of this, Alsina picked up a new hobby of sewing and made herself a scarf with her family motif embedded, as well as a green belt pouch she later gave to Alhaitham as an apology for a long-forgotten fight.

She was also involved in a research project located at Aaru Village where she studies the biology of Athel trees. The wood's special texture and its resistance to both drought and humidity make it very durable. Upon receiving a considerable amount of Athel wood from the Akademiya at the end of the research project, Alsina took it upon herself to create theater props from the wood with a few pieces of machinery incorporated within. She later donated the props to Zubayr Theater in secrecy under the name "Isnain" to avoid trouble with the Akademiya.

Despite Alsina's wishes to drop out, she persisted in favor of her mother and became an intern at the Bimarstan. She had already planned to continue her medical training and eventually become a doctor to take her mother's place or an ecologist after graduation. Alsina continued to be on top of her class, albeit, she was constantly exhausted, and undeniably depressed. She had struggled to keep her grades stable without ultimately overworking herself. Near the end of her time at the Akademiya, she decided to research Pursina's Spikes as her thesis subject. She hypothesized that the disease Eleazar, the manifestation of the Withering on the human body caused by the corruption of the Irminsul, could be treated by Pursina's Spikes which disrupts Ley Lines openings. Later on, she approached a Spantamad researcher, Hosseini, for assistance. With his help, she made modifications to Pursina's Spikes before installing them at the Bimarstan. The project turned out to bear promising results. While the Pursina's Spikes aren't enough to cure Eleazar, it was successful in temporarily suppressing the symptoms for some time. This attracted many other Amurta scholars to delve into the subject and finally shone some light on the almost forgotten mechanism of the Pursina's Spikes.

Later on, Alsina graduated from Amurta with honors. She received an Akademiya Recommendation Letter from Khedive Pursina, a distant relative of hers who has heard of her recent achievements. She was invited to join the ranks of the Mahamata, an invitation Alsina accepted with a sense of uncertainty. Alsina took on the role of the Mahamata overseeing the Bimarstan.
