Profile
Overview
"Idle thoughts are the most dangerous of them all, you know?"
Marvin Alan Day sure isn't an easy person to forget - cunning, sly and even theatrical at times, he will make himself known in various ways. Some see him as a charming and intelligent man and others as an egotistical asshole, a literal nightmare to work with. Neither is more true than the other, which only makes it that much harder for new people to make a solid opinion on him. No matter if you love him or hate him, you cannot deny he's smart, dedicated and creative, especially when it comes to protecting what he holds dear-- Self-driven and persistent, Marvin dedicated half of his life to one and only goal, [REDACTED]. Only one question remains - will he actually do it?
Trivia:
- He's ambidextrous, preferring to write with his left but throw and shoot with his right.
- His eyesight is very poor - they're near-sighted and suffer from astigmatism in one eye as well. Without the glasses they become clumsy and slightly uncoordinated (he also doesn't like contact lenses and wears them only if absolutely necessary).
- They're not the best at processing their emotions and he was even worse at it as a kid - to a point where he got angry at his crush for experiencing feelings and accidentally broke his arm.
- Marvin Alan Day is incredibly smart, could probably be even called a genius, but he can't cook at all. He will burn water in a pot without even trying to. Kitchen utensils seem to actively hate him. That's why take outs are his best friends. He took a great liking to a chinese place close to his flat, especially the sour-spicy chicken.
- He dyed his hair pink in college because of a dare and he rocked the color, to his buddies' dismay.

Roy
[ current target/lover/husband ]
At first, it was supposed to be easy - Roy was a new guy at the precinct, he barely knew anyone. How could they not use that opportunity? Especially since Roy was in his type already. Having fun and gaining insight at the same time? Sign him in.
And yet... Marvin's master plan fell apart in the most surprising of ways - through receiving genuine care. Roy turned out to be much more attentive, caring and kind than Marvin initially thought him to be. He wasn't used to this. He didn't know how to proceed from there. Should they keep on going? It didn't affect his plan so far, so why shouldn't he? But, on the other hand, seeing Roy this distressed after another argument brought him actual pain... Before they even knew it, they fell for the man so deeply it became too agonizing to continue with a sharade. Was there even a way out of this all? He knew the answer, of course, but neither him nor Roy wanted to hear it...
Amelie
[ acquaintance ]
They had a rocky start and it steadily went worse from there. Marvin found Amelie rather pleasant to the eye, and her sharp character was anything but a big plus in his book, but she was Cassidy's soon-to-be-wife. She also clearly wasn't interested so he gave up before he even started anything really. As much as she made it clear she found him despicable, he couldn't bring himself to care much. They didn't hate her but didn't have much common ground to form any deeper relationship, either. Plus, it was funny to annoy her. A harmless past-time, one might say.
Cassidy
[ acquaintance/friend ]
Cass is a very... unique person. She was the first to call him out on his behaviour back in their medschool days, even though she technically risked getting on his bad side by doing so - and she made it clear she needed his help. He appreciated the effort however, and their relationship quickly ceased to be based solely on exchange of goods (knowledge for drinks, basically). They hanged out a lot up until he had to change his major and even though they didn't really keep in touch for years, they've met up again by pure chance. Since then he keeps in touch with her, mostly for work-related reasons on his end, but he won't deny that he appreciates her company if they do happen to hang out - however rare those days might be.
Alice
[ unsure? ]
He didn't think his plans through, that's for sure. Now he was facing the direct consequences of his actions. He was, for better or worse, stuck with an actual, living child. He couldn't just give her away. That posed a lot of risks. He couldn't abandon her, either - he wasn't heartless, even if some felt inclined to see him as such. There seemed to be only one option left then, and it was to suck it up and take responsibility by taking care of her. Hopefully a better one than he did of himself...
However cheesy and cliche it might sound, Alice grew on him. He flinches at any and all implications that he's a parental figure, that isn't something they were, are or would aspire to be for the girl, but it isn't on him to decide what role he plays in her life now, is it? All he can really do is make sure nothing bad happens to her, for both her and his sake.
Margot
[ parental figure ]
Margot started out as a stranger, a young woman coming in once in a while to keep an eye on him so he didnt die or destroy the house while his parents were away. He didn't feel any particular way towards her but she did spend more time with him that either of his actual parents so... She grew on him. He grew on her too, apparently, because they took effort to teach him stuff that none of his precious books could. She became the one he talked about school with, the one he complained to about mundane things - the one that had an impact so profound he kept in touch with her years after, to a point where they got invited to his wedding and gladly came!
