Overview
"I care about you whether you, or I, want that. I won't stop because you see it as illogical or pointless. That's not how feelings work."
Roy Griffin is a sweet, kind man with a heart of gold. He cares deeply about his family and friends, even to a fault. No wonder he took a recent loss so profoundly then, especially when coupled with stress and (almost depressive) aura he encounters daily at his workplace. No one bats an eye when he decides to transfer, to move and start anew in a completely foreign place. He hopes not to forget but to learn how to cope, to heal. Everything seems to be on the right track until he meets that one person he shouldn’t have. If he only knew what he had gotten himself into…
Trivia:
- He never wanted to be a cop, it was an attempt to reconcile with his parents - he’d rather become a social worker.
- MCR was and still is close to his heart.
- He used to play DnD in high-school and always acted as a support/healer for the rest of the party.
- As much as he doesn’t mind traveling, he’s not fond of boats and cruises due to sea sickness.
- He enjoys singing but not if he has an audience, so you have a better chance catch him singing while he’s doing the dishes rather than during a karaoke night out with friends.

Marvin
[ lover/awful ex/husband ]
They say first impressions tell you a lot about the person but to be frank, Roy didn’t know what to think of Marvin at first. The man seemed chaotic, messy and yet very thorough, intelligent and sharp. It was difficult to tell if he was up to something or if it was just how he acted on a daily basis. Roy wasn’t deterred though and sure enough, in no time at all they got really close. Marvin was incredibly smart and annoyingly stupid at the same time, funny and (to Roy's dismay) cute. He quickly got attached and developed feelings for the man, even though he promised himself to take new relationships easy, previous wounds not really healed.
Their relationship took many turns only to disastrously explode right into Roy’s face when he least expected it. It left him heartbroken, miserable and slowly spiraling down the hellhole of his own depressive thoughts and urges. Was he doomed to become an emotional wreck from the day he was born? Roy started to believe it up until one day when his life, once again, took a turn…
Amelie
[ coworker/friend ]
Amelie was smaller than him but her demeanor was nothing but terrifying to him. He's cordial, he's polite - he doesn't want to make enemies. Amelie seemed to be the exact opposite, asserting herself as the dominant force in the room and making sure everyone knew there would be consequences if anyone did as much as look weird in her direction. Roy didn't have a lot of hope when they first started their partnership but he made en effort to let her know he didn't want to compete with her nor meant her any harm whatsoever. It seemed to pay off; Amelie softened with time and before he knew it, she became a treasured friend. A great advisor and someone that looked out for him when he forgot to eat or take a break.
Cassidy
[ coworker/friend ]
First thought that came to his mind was that Cassidy was... a lot. Not in a bad way but she was a ball of energy and sunshine, and the contrast between her and their workplace was almost jarring. She quickly found a way into his heart though and it became impossible to not like her and her company. He might not always keep up with her and her ideas, but nothing lifted up his spirits quite as quickly as a short chat with Cassidy did.
Alice
[ adoptive daughter? ]
He never planned on becoming a parent. There was that deeply-rooted fear in his heart that he wasn't a good fit for that. He liked children and children generally liked him, sure. But it is not the same as taking care of another, smaller human being full-time. What if he screwed it up? The last thing he wanted was to scarr an innocent child for life by accident, by not being enough in whatever matter...
Life seemed to know better, though. One day he was being his usual, miserable self. The next he had to take care of a child he had never seen in his life. The same day that very child asked if she could call him dad. That was a lot. And even after all this time that had passed since that day, he still has his doubts and insecurities in the matter. But, as the sudden event and following experience showed him, it wasn't his place to say if he was doing a good job or not.
Reagan
[ sister ]
They were like fire and water - he was an introvert, a quiet individual. Reagan was a life of the party, loudly and proudly speaking her mind. Maybe oddly enough, they were close. She was taking care of him from the day one - she aided him through emotional turmoils, she showed him a healthy outlet that was music, she fended for him when he himself didn't have strength to do so. She was the first person he came out to and the biggest beam of hope and reassurance in the otherwise stressfull and unpleasant environment. She helped him again and again, expecting nothing in return. Roy doesn't want to think where he would be in life if it wasn't for her - if anywhere at all...
Reagan is intelligent, perceptive and loves to bicker. As much as Roy isn't a snarky type, he has no problem with bickering with her or being playfully mean. He knows he can do that with her - he knows her different tones, all the microexpressions and gestures. She knows him too, obviously - probably even more than he'd sometimes like her to. All in all, they're still siblings living in different cities, working different jobs. They rarely see each other in person these days but when they do, it feels like no time has passed at all.
