History
When he was born Mato was first just seen as quiet, but as time went on it was quickly discovered that he was a mute. His brother Chaska tried to train him, but it was during this time that Mansi introduced Mato to the gods. He was immediately drawn in with her stories and because of his handicap the gods were able to connect to Mato in a way the didn't connect to others, they spoke directly to him, and between himself and Mansi the gods were able to tell the Woodland Banes about the fire just in the knick of time.
Mansi worked with Mato after his brother left the pack, and Mato learned a form of communication by sketching in the dirt symbols that represent different things. When his brother Alton was to be mated to another, his brother was currently in a secret relationship, and pawned his new mate off on Mato to have some time to himself. Mato quickly fell in love with the reserved female Blank, and took her for his own when his brother wouldn't, but finding out Blank was pregnant changed everything...
