lives in NY, in grad school there until she finishes her phd in engineering or robotics or whatever and works for a lab there. i'm still working on the timeline for that
she and ali were always both smart and advanced and capable but ali fell off the gifted kid wagon around middle school and never recovered whereas shiv pushed herself extra hard and excelled at the cost of her mental health. neither of them truly holds it against the other one but there's a little tiny bit of resentment they can't help about it (on shiv's part: it feels unfair that ali did Fuck All and now is living his best life while she busts her ass and is seldom rewarded). that being said they still care about each other and shiv was the first family member to reach out to ali after he disappeared. which he didn't expect because he kind of assumed since she's so normal and he's so not that she would want nothing to do with him. they are now on good terms, and she sends him good tiktoks once in a while, although he is hesitant to tell anyone she exists because she's a remnant from his past life he wanted to leave behind including possible exposure of his old name. they visit each other infrequently (a few times a year at most)

after alistaire loses his arm, thomas steals technology shiv developed to use in the prosthesis (the rest is all his work and design, it's just like, there was a difficult joint problem she solved and published a paper about or whatever). thomas has no idea of the connection and assumes this random young roboticist from new york will never find out her tech was used in one (1) prosthesis that wasn't for profit. except she does, because she visits and sees it and recognizes it immediately.
