"Oh...hello again. It's nice to see you"
Bertrand is a distant descendent of a historian from an age long forgotten. Unknown to him, he has taken up the mantle of being just like his ancestor, a historian fascinated by ancient races that few know about.
He's always dreamed about one day being a part of a team of historians and discovering the mystery behind the Zonai, a mysterious race that has been said to be even more ancient then Hyrule itself and vanished long ago, leaving behind very little to understand what they were like.
Ever since he met Dragmire as a young teen, he has grown closer to understanding the kind hearted Gerudo. Though their travels around Hyrule largely keep them away from each other for long periods of time, they truly get along great with each other.
Bertrand is not that very good at fighting and can get spooked quite easily if you sneak up on him. He's pretty much the opposite of his beloved horse, Blukey.
(A side character I have yet to properly interduce in a BOTW / TOTK AU fanfic I'm writing)

Story
BOTW
Son of Salus Oaklavin, he was always taught to be kind and caring to anybody that truly needed it.
He and his father helped Dragmire in his early months of traveling after he had a fallout with a old friend he never mentioned by name. and even offered their family home for him to stay at whenever he stopped by from his long personal journey.
Although they would eventually went their separate ways and would rarely get to meet on the road due to the size of Hyrule, he always has nice things to say about Dragmire.
TOTK
Five to Six years have passed and Bertrand has never been this busy in his life and he couldn't be happier. He's proud to be the youngest member of the Zonai Survey Team, led by Tauro.
He’s been helping out by deciphering runes with the help of his tome that he's had in his family's possession for some time.
Luck is even on his side when he gets the chance to follow along with Dragmire and Link on one their adventures on a quest to save Hyrule.
