 Main story: 
Nariko was born before the Great War between Kanto and Johto, in the beautiful countryside of Route 38. She always showed to be a calm, more mature than her age, child, and to be quite talented at dancing. When she heard that the Kimono Girls were looking for new members she immediately wanted to go and give it try, since she also owned a Leafeon (inherited from her father's side who is originary from Sinnoh), but her parents didn't want to because they deemed such an important city as Ecruteak too dangerous during war times (the Great War had started by then); after much reasoning and convincing though, she managed to get approval to go.

Even though she was just 10 she was taken in by the Kimono Girls, not as a proper member of course but more like an assistant and apprentice; at the age of 15 she finally had a spot of her own as a Kimono Girl, dancing with her trusty companion Leafeon.
Growing up as an official Kimono Girl, she eventually came to know about the secrets of Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi and the Legendary Trio, even though she never got part in any official ritual. She was especially fascinated by Ho-Oh, with its rainbow beauty, power to bring back to life, and will to protect Johto from any harm; she actually hoped many times the Legendary would step in and stop the foolish war.

Part of her job was also keeping company to the customers of the Kimono Girls' theatre while she wasn't dancing (there weren't just group dances, but also solos, duets, etc.), bringing them drinks and food and occasionally talking to them. The ladies would claim it was to keep company to the lonely people who seeked solace in their dance, but it was obviously a tactic to keep customers ordering and coming again (like in modern Maid Café). When Nariko was about 18 she noticed a young man, of about her age, who was a new and repeating customer. He was always alone and looked a bit down, and she noticed he paid more attention to her dances, so she decided to go and talk to him. His name was Hiro, and he apparentely was an office worker on vacation. She talked more and more to him, even dwelling into personal information, and the other Kimono Girls, noticing how Hiro wouldn't talk to them but only to Nariko, always sent the girl to talk to him, almost everyday. She started wondering if he had maybe a crush on her (enamored customers were quite common and always the hardest to deal with), but then realized she didn't care at all 'cause she was falling for him either way.

As the two started to get more close, even hanging out after Nariko's working hours, she opened even more about her personal life and opinions, letting out her wish Ho-Oh would come and put an end to the war, and accidentally letting slip information on how Kimono Girls had the knowledge and permission to perform rituals in order to awake and mildly talk/control the Legendaries; sometimes, the Legends themselves came in their dreams or thoughts to pass informations, most likely heeds of advice or premonitions, making the Kimono Girls some sort of oracles as well. Hiro seemed very interested in the matter but didn't push it any further, and after a few days he sadly had to leave to return to his job in another town; during their last night together they confessed their mutual feelings and made love, but very early in the morning, when Hiro was getting ready to leave and Nariko was just pretending to keep on sleeping, she heard a PokéGear conversation in which she understood he was a Team Rocket member, gone to Johto for a mission and returning to base that morning.

She confronted him in a rage, sure that he just used her to gather information and all their "feelings" were just fake, manipulation. Hiro admitted being a Rocket Member, but swore he never meant any harm to her, and that his feelings were sincere, apologizing for the whole mess; however, Nariko didn't believe him.
So, when he was gone back to Kanto, she "left" (only a public facade) her job as a Kimono Girl and joined Team Rocket in order to gather informations to pass on to Johto, as a payback towards Hiro/Team Rocket for gathering informations from her. She was indeed very good at lying and keeping up her Rocket facade (even though temporarily giving up her Pokémon and using a new TR-imposed team was a big hit to her), and started to become even popular among other grunts for her beauty, elegance and battle prowess.
A couple years after she was in, Madame Boss left her position as Team Rocket's leader for unknown reasons and disappeared, leaving all the power to her son Giovanni, and he created a new rank, "Elite Grunts", in order to give some promotions to the best grunts and gather some support (young Giovanni was somewhat "kinder" to gather faster support from his subordinates, since his mother was so ruthless) and Nariko earned a promotion as well, earning also the Rocket codename "Juno". 

Being an Elite grunt, she could have her old Pokémon back and also had more access to informations, along with activity in more important missions or support to Admins, so she was able to pass some useful data to Johto; the most useful she managed to know of was about the experiments to create the ultimate Pokemon weapon, Mewtwo, but they were only tidbits as it was a very important project (she actually got that little info thanks to an Elite Scientist, Lilith, who took a liking in her).
Needless to say, her actions were soon discovered, and Giovanni would have disposed of her if it wasn't for Hiro confessiong she was a Kimono Girl, and may have useful information for Team Rocket (he didn't say anything to the Team about what Nariko told him a few years ago). Giovanni kept her alive, but imprisoned, and constantly under questions, especially about the Legendary Pokemon. Sadly she wasn't a very experienced Kimono Girl, so she couldn't leak details on the rituals even if she wanted. The informations she did give only fueled Team Rocket to attack the Kimono Girls in Ecruteak City for more info, and she came to know the Glaceon-wielder was killed in the raid (since then, Kimono Girls never accepted again Glaceon and Leafon Girls as if it was an unlucky position).

After that, Nariko wasn't considered anymore necessary and was going to be killed, but this time was Lilith to interfere, saying the girl had much potential and that with her knowledge of poison and herbs could have been a help for her scientific studies. Giovanni, who still wanted to act as the good boss to gather has much liking as he could for underlings, accepted to keep her around, but always under Lilith's watch; Nariko's family was also moved to Kanto and given a better house, job, etc. but always kept under control by team Rocket and used as a threat to make the girl behave well.

Nariko ended up getting accostumed to the Rocket life, completely giving up any rebellion for her family's sake, and even ended up making friends and having a relationship with Hiro; and in the long run, even though she didn't approve of Team Rocket's way, she was fooled as everyone by Giovanni's charm into thinking what they were doing wasn't that bad afterall.

Akihiko -> Leafeon, male

Nariko's lead Pokemon, and her best friend, Akihiko was given to her as an Eevee by her father (he's from Sinnoh) when she was just 3, and got to evolve him during a trip on her 6th birthday. Akihiko is gentle and calm, but can turn deadly and fierce if challenged. He has a very elegant battle style, and always has a sort of noble air around him, making him look like a little prince. He's obviously Nariko's partner in her dances and general job as a Kimono Girl, and really enjoys his work and all the compliments he gets from it. In TR, he's used in almost every mission/battle and even though dislikes the lifestyle does his best for Nariko.
Hates Giovanni's Persian with the burning intensity of 1000 suns.

Hanami -> Bellossom, female

An Oddish she caught in Ilex forest during her training as a Kimono Girl, Hanami is very polite but always ready to have fun with her friends. She often plays an important role in Nariko's dance since she is a talented dancer herself, or adds special effects like petals and the like. In TR, Hanami is used for fast combats due to her natural ability to elude attacks and confuse the enemy, as well as outside battle to put enemies to sleep or paralyze/poison them. Also uses Petal Dance as a cover to not enemies see when her group has to escape.

*turns out she was bred by a Hoenn trainer during their trip to Johto (her parents being a Cacturne and Vileplume), and then released in the Ilex forest because not shiny

Kazuki -> Pidgeot, male
Agility/Sunny Day/Feather Dance || Fly || Whirlwind || Steel Wing
An injured Pidgey that Nariko nursed back to health, and who decided to stay with her. Kazuki is the most protective of Nariko's Pokémon, usually dislikes battles but for his beloved ones he can fight 'til death. He also contributed to Nariko's dances with effects like wind, feathers falling, etc. and she also often uses him for transportation. Kazuki sadly perished when in TR, to defend his trainer from another Rocket member who accused Nariko of still being a spy even after she was spared by Giovanni.

Ume -> Miltank, female
Heal Bell || Drink Milk || Surf/Ice Punch/Fire Punch/Thunder Punch || Body Slam/Earthquake
Another Pokémon that Nariko had since childhood, she was originally a family Pokemon but took a special liking in the girl and eagerly entered in her team. Ume is the team's momma and enjoys taking care of everyone, has an infinite patience and keeps smiling even when angry (which looks kind of creepy tbh). She has a very resistant body and often takes the hits while the others recover.

Sachiko -> Crobat, female

Given to Nariko as a Zubat upon her arrival in TR, initially Nariko disliked the new Pokemon who had replaced her friends, but mission after mission she eventually changed her mind, as it wasn't the Pokemon's fault, and warmed up to them. It was when Sachiko got affectionate to the girl back that she evolved and got her current name. She is a quite shy and posed Crobat, and usually moves with grace and quickness, making her good for ambushes or as a spy; she's also Nariko's main transportation system when in TR (especially after Kazuki's death).

Initially acted a bit snobby at the fact a girl younger than her got promoted at a superior rank in such a little time, but eventually fell as one of Ariana's many admirers and even got to befriend her a bit, especially thanks to their similar Pokemon.

Lilith befriended her due to boredom, but theirs is a very strange "friendship", almost fake. Lilith tends to belittle Nariko and treats her as she's a dumb child, but is also quite protective and supportive of her.
