Upbringing
Alo'Rah had a fairly normal childhood. Despite being smaller than most, she still found ways to hold her own should she ever need to, though she took to the idea of gathering more than hunting fairly early on. It didn't take long for her to begin her own little collection of useful herbs, as she learned quickly which ones she was to avoid.
Though she was never one to hide away from her community, it's hard to say she enjoyed big events. She could often be found on the edge of the crowd during ceremonies, looking more to the woods than to what was happening in front of her. It seemed as though she'd rather be finding new grounds rather than observing old ones. Sure enough, as soon as she was able, Alo'Rah joined a scouting party to explore the surrounding woods. Things did not quite go as planned, however.
The Avalanche
While out in the woods, an avalanche hit the group. Though they managed to stay together, in their scramble for shelter they became disoriented and lost, and some of them were even injured in the extreme conditions. Once it had passed, it became clear that only one of them was strong enough to go back and get help. In the meantime, Alo'Rah tended to the sick and injured, while taking pointers from the others to build a proper fire and shelter to keep them safe while they waited for help to arrive.
Thanks to her diligent care of the three, and their knowledge on shelter and survival, help arrived in time and no lives were lost. But Rae was still rather shaken from the event. Had she not been there, or had the group been separated, they would have died. All of them lost to the snow. She wasn't quite herself after that trip. She had always been quiet, sure, but now she would hardly utter a word unless it was to ask for supplies.
The Inn
When she did finally ask for something other than supplies, it was for help. Help in carrying the supplies to a location she'd mapped out, and in building a cabin there. When asked why, she simply stated it was "for safety", and promised that they would be repaid with warm meals and a place to stay, whenever they needed it.
Her promise was kept, as the inn section of her project was finished far before the tavern. A place to rest for those taking on the task of helping her to build this safe haven amongst the harsh conditions, and travelers in the future who had lost their way. As a last thank you to the family who helped her with her project, she gave up her previous residence to them for future generations.
Present Day
Nowadays, the Inn is well known to be a stopping point for many travelers, as well as somewhere lost explorers often find themselves. This is mostly thanks to the runes painted on the trees in the surrounding forest, and the lanters hung from their branches, though some claim to have wound up there purely on accident.
However guests end up at her tavern, Alo'Rah is happy to tend to anyone who walks through her doors. You'll be greeted with a warm meal and a place to rest your head, safe from the unrelenting winter on the other side of the walls.
