Being surrounded by people who wouldn't put effort into Junhyeok whether as a friend or lover, Junhyeok felt incredibly alone. He had developed trust issues yet he's also starved for human connection. Even though he sometimes comes off as intimidating, he's always the first to start a conversation with his tenants when they don't seem to be in a rush. He'd also cook for people and give people company when they need it, though he doesn't ask anyone for help since he feels embarrassed at the thought of doing so.

Ever since childhood, Junhyeok always felt awkward with his parents. He's an only child yet his parents are cold and rarely give him affection. They were too focused on themselves to consider Junhyeok's feelings, and Junhyeok always felt out of place when other kids his age would talk about how their parents would bring them to trips, while Junhyeok always had to stay home. Junhyeok's parents also didn't want him to "stand out". They didn't like how expressive he was, how affectionate he was, how much he values human connection. Instead, they tell him to focus on becoming successful and to not care so much about making friends. Since Junhyeok wasn't allowed to be himself with his parents, he had to turn to his friends.

Junhyeok had started getting into music and was playing as a drummer in his friend's band. He got into the underground band scene and met lots of interesting people, one of them being Junhyeok's first boyfriend. Junhyeok was still discovering things about himself and when he realized he's attracted to men only, it somewhat scared him. However, his boyfriend comforted him and wasn't pushy with Junhyeok. In fact, he was incredibly gentle and took good care of Junhyeok. Their relationship lasted for a year, and it ended when the two of them had graduated high school. Junhyeok's now ex boyfriend wanted to live in a different country and since both of them weren't comfortable with a long distance relationship, they ended their relationship right there and then. Junhyeok still has fond memories of him, especially since he's the only man that ever treated him right in his love life.

Because Junhyeok's next boyfriend treated him horribly. Junhyeok was a bit more open about his sexuality, but he also let his boyfriend know that he wanted to take things slow. Unfortunately he didn't respect it and Junhyeok felt small around him. At some point, Junhyeok's parents found out about his sexuality and kicked him out. They also cut off contact with him, so Junhyeok had to live with his current boyfriend since it's not like Junhyeok could immediately find an apartment to live in. Even though Junhyeok knows he doesn't want to be with him anymore, he continued to stay since he wanted to be safe. After Junhyeok earned enough money to rent himself a flat, he moved out and later his current boyfriend decided to break up with him, calling him "boring" since Junhyeok wasn't ready for a lot of things.

Even though the reason was hurtful, Junhyeok was glad to finally be out of that relationship. Later on he had a normal life, now working in an office and meeting people. At this point, he was still in touch with the friends he made the time he was still in a band, and he was also in touch with his bandmates. However, Junhyeok started noticing something. Every time Junhyeok would invite them to come hang out at his place, they would come up with many excuses such as they don't have enough money to go or his place is too far, even though his place is only 15 minutes by drive. Junhyeok's suspicion was finally confirmed when he invited them to hang out at an amusement park and he even prepared tickets, but they came up with the same excuses. Since Junhyeok had no one else to invite, he gave his tickets away to a family and entered the amusement park on his own, as he still wanted to enjoy the attractions.

Junhyeok then saw his "friends" hanging out together and when they saw him, their eyes widened. Junhyeok was of course furious because not only did they lie, they also lied on his birthday. Today was Junhyeok's birthday and they had the audacity to lie to his face and hang out at the same place he invited them to. Junhyeok immediately cut off contact with them and knowing that they wouldn't even go through the effort to drive 15 minutes to his place, Junhyeok knew their friendships were really done when he decided to cut them off. They only needed him to be their therapist and didn't see him as a friend at all. Due to this incident, Junhyeok could never feel comfortable going into the same amusement park again, and he came to dislike Christmas and his birthday. Every time his birthday comes, he would be reminded of how he has no one, since no one would even say merry christmas or happy birthday to him anymore.

Later in life, Junhyeok decided to move to an apartment complex and even though majority of the residents were elders, Junhyeok felt comfortable chatting with them and even became friends with the landlord. She was like a parental figure in his life and was always the first to celebrate his birthday. She would even prepare dinner for him and invite people who know them, which made Junhyeok feel less lonely. Since the landlord was getting older and older, she wanted to retire soon and Junhyeok suggested that he'll take care of the apartment for her. She loved this idea so after she retired, she made him the landlord of the building. Even though Junhyeok was somewhat awkward, he did a great job handling the building and while his loneliness does still eat him away, at least he felt comfortable calling this place home.
