No player in Assumption Perish knows much about Noctis. On the outside, he seems like an over-confident and playful kid, but some suspect there's more to it than that. He was a prodigy, and because of that, he was loved and praised by many, but he didn't want that. He wanted to be loved for himself, not just how smart he was. This lead him to become depressed, thinking that people would only like him for his brain. It didn't help that he didn't have many friends, since he was treated as a 'teacher's pet', even though he never tried to be. What he truly wanted was restart to his life. And that's what Noctis got when he finally had too much and decide to take his own life. He was then reborn in his role as Overseer of Assumption Perish. He was overjoyed and thought this would end all of the bad feelings he'd ever felt, but it seems that having to watch others die with no control over it is not an easy thing to deal with.
But now I’m looking back and laugh, oh how I’ve changed!

Noctis grew up as a prodigy. He was incredibly smart for his age, and was always loved by others for just that, which is exactly what he didn't want. He feared people would only like him for his mind and nothing else. Which, in the end, drove him into depression.
【 Deceiving 】
After being reborn in this new world, Noctis knew he needed to change himself. If he was going to start his life anew, he didn't want to be who he used to. He thought that if he acted happy, he would feel happy. But that wasn't the case. It turned out the face he began to show others simply became a mask and nothing else.

Misfortune and Role

It was around when Noctis started high school that he started to feel...off about himself. He enjoyed the praise he got from others, but he started to see that that was all he got from others. Other than his brain, no one seemed to care about him. At least, that's what he started to believe. It didn't help that the friends he did have started to believe that he was being too much of a teacher's pet and started to leave him. He'd always say that he wasn't, but they never beleived him. They'd just tease him and say things like "you must have it so easy...", which only made him feel worse about himself. He never wanted to be this smart. He never wanted others to thing he was taking advantage of his brain. Noctis never wanted his being to be solely defined by his intelligence. This quickly drove him into depression - one that only kept getting worse overtime. And thus, he ended up taking his own life at the age of 17, only two years after entering high school.
【 The Overseer 】
Due to his role as Overseer, Noctis isn't really a player per se, even though he has a unique color like every other player. As for powers, other than not being able to attack, he does have enhanced mobility, such as more floaty jumps and heightened agility, which he uses to watch the game from rooftops and other high places. Others have described him as a coward, but his role is the 'oversee' Assumption Perish, so that's what he's doing. He doesn't want to get involved in the game if he doesn't have to. Noctis doesn't have any abillities to stop the game or hurt anyone, which makes it hard for him to bare watching the game in the first place.
Trivia
The players of the game know nothing about Noctis, so they don't really trust him. They often try to attack him, but due to his role, Noctis easily dodges them. He has fun messing with them like this, though the hate he gets does get to him.
Despite having a color, he has never used his. He sees no point, as he can't be attacked, anyway.
