capable of integrating seamlessly into nearly any environment, not to mention influence it, there is something truly idyll about solaris upon first glance. she traverses through her days easily, playfully, and with a cocksure yet charming edge. affable and well-spoken, it is not uncommon to become enraptured by his infectious persona and borderline-philosophical wit.

in reality, solaris is a being who is construed from great egocentricity and indifference. majority of their civil behaviour is orchestrated, meant to shroud a heavily flattened affect, an overwhelming sense of apathy, and a chronic hollowness from within. it is arguable that their psyche is not wholly intact nor does he feel like such; detached from both others and the self, she often thinks herself an untouchable entity, a divine vessel, or a creation not meant for this world.

(isolated, perhaps, is a better descriptor. it is lonely at the top.)

solaris largely views life as a sort of conquest. it is a game: a series of never-ending turns and transactions. he takes pleasure—or the closest thing to it—in examining others as if they are lab rats. ultimately, solaris's clinical approach is a way to relieve the never-ending boredom which plagues them; a method to directly experience, study, and understand the behaviour of others, the world, and, by proxy, her own self; and an attempt to genuinely connect with others given the limited cognitive capacity they have in that particular dimension.

consequence means little to solaris, as do emotions such as shame, guilt, and fear. while normally calculated, they are equally as capable of a deceptive recklessness, forever in pursuit of unattainable highs. to call her a violent creature, however, would be incorrect: they favour non-physical altercations and resort to underhanded tactics such as deceit and manipulation should they find the need to accumulate victories.

though there are few who rival his immense interest in and total disregard for humankind, solaris's supposed malice is seldom intentional—to be cruel, they'd say, implies that one cares. and that couldn't be further from the truth.
