Prosperity and Splendor these were things that Lacrimas herself knew all too well as a result of the family of which she was born into. Though even with all she knew. She still was left lacking when it came to simpler things such as kindness and love. Her own family did not teach her such things as a result of their own self-contained desires to seek further and further affluence.

Of course being born into wealth came with its own hells. Education. The best her family could afford was piled upon her child self like weighted shackles. Even her own mother, the one that had given her life did not exempt her from cruel punishment for her shortcomings. She would be struck often with a cane until she didn’t so much as flinch in order to be taught to maintain her composure above all else even through the stinging pain if she failed, she would merely be struck again until she learnt.

The unceasing days of abuse and being used solely for the benefit of her family would of course take its toll on the poor girl's psyche. A well of despair that would only grow deeper with each passing day, until the waters of sorrow that filled her soul eventually blossomed into something tragic. She seeked solace and escape. She found solitude and respite at the windows of her bedroom. It was there that she longed to be with flora and fauna beneath a wide and untainted expense of blue sky. The cage that she had found herself grew ever more tighter with that thought. She may never see that sky she so longed for.

It was then the weight of the world came to bear its ugly head. Unable to handle the life that had been fed to her since the day of her birth. Lacrimas decided to liberate herself. Leaping forward from her window. For a brief moment she was one with the heavens, the cold night air and the glistening stars above, but she was no bird. The heavens were not meant for her as she would plummet to the ground, her eyes only able to see the stars as they twinkled an impossible distance away.

When she next came to her body was laying in a bed, several bones broken, from a fall that should have killed her. It was not by luck that she survived however as she quickly learnt of her capacity to wield healing magic. Though no amount of healing magic could heal the rift that she had caused with her family. Her windows would be barred much to her sorrow never to be opened again. Her family would double down on her education, trapping her even further in the strict training to become an asset in which they could bargain off.

However it had but a single benefit, upon seeing that his daughter possessed a spark for magic, he had given her an instructor. Of course she was forbidden from teaching her anything that she could use against her own family. But it was under this instructor's tutelage that her healing magic would flourish. The instructor had been through in helping her explore her magical nature, it was soon discovered that the nature of Lacrimas's abilities was not to harm, but to protect and heal.  The instructor also taught her of her magical immunity, and how to ebb its power in order to bolster her healing powers. In these lessons she would use it as a time to formulate a plan of escape.

Yet this too would fail rather quickly, as she’d be punished by house arrest. Her father stepped up his plans to do away with his useless daughter, he would begin his next step. Grooming her for a potential suitor. So that she may be used as the token and asset he had always intended for her to be. Day in and day out of practice to be the perfect wife, how to seduce. How to use her inborn ability of Charm. A skill that all kitsune had. To enthral a potential suitor with her beautiful and shapely form with one blink of the eye.

Of course her beauty was something that was not to be understated. It was the one thing that nobody could deny or argue against. She was beautiful and plenty of suitors wished to marry her. Of particular note however was a warlord. Alistaire, a cruel and ruthless man that would doom her to a life of being naught but a living shield and a bearer of his children. She would fall into a melancholic state.

However that was what led to her chance for freedom.

It was a societal outing, a picnic for female nobles to meet each other and discuss wifely-things. Pure meaningless small talk. Though she was forced to go anyway as a result of her parents demanding that she behave or else be punished. So Lacrimas would wait, forced to listen to women talking about themselves as if they were anything more than trophies that had been given to men much like she was about to be until she finally saw her window of opportunity.

Dragging behind the crowd as if feigning some sort of tiredness, she would look towards a way to escape. Though to her dismay a guard would lag behind with her. Little did the guard know that she was a bit more resourceful than that. He only had the briefest look of surprise as his eyes met hers. Her glowing pink eyes that would cause him to lose control of himself for the briefest moment. Lost in her charm. He would soon double over in pain, the receptors in his brain overstimulated.

Lacrimas would not hesitate to flee and flee she did, discarding her heeled shoes. She would run barefoot, as fast as she could, faster still than anyone could catch. Heavy breaths would spill from her lips as she’d cling onto her desire to escape above all else. It hurt to run barefoot across brambles and sticks, but her training to keep her composure allowed her to keep running, as her dress would become torn from crashing through the forest flora. Sharp sticks and thorny bushes destroying the fabrics. It was not her dress to care for though.

She would keep running until she had left that life behind her, until she was far enough away to be free. Until. She ran into him. Into his arms. A stranger. Safety. Someone that would forever change her life. She had finally reached her salvation.

But for what cost?
